  Truck Show 2008

On Friday Night June 6, 2008, twenty-one truckers driving in from all over the US and Canada arrived at the Newport News Holiday Inn & Suites to celebrate the 13th Annual Li’l Red Express & Warlock Owners National Reunion Weekend.

Things really got off to a great start as club members listened to music, bid on items in the auction and enjoyed great food. The party provided an excellent opportunity for club members to mingle and meet members who were there for the first time.  As for the kids they had a great time in the indoor swimming-pool.    Sponsored by the Hampton Roads Li'l Red Express and Warlock Owners Club and Grafton Dodge in Yorktown, Virginia, the food was prepared and served by the Newport News Holiday Inn & Suites.   My complements to the chef and wait staff at Barclay’s Bistro.

On a beautiful Saturday morning, trucker’s lined up their trucks in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn, in preparation for a convoy to Newport News Park  As the convoy of specialized Dodge pickup trucks began to depart for the show an apparent misunderstanding in instructions, complicated by a break-down in the parking lot, created quite the mix-up in finding Newport News Park, but thanks to cell phones and determination everyone made it to the show.

The event did not go as perfect this year as in the past, soaring temperatures and a shortage of judges made things a bit tough on everyone. The best part about the show proved to be our members pulling together under the tent for shade as it created the opportunity for great conversation. Every one seemed to have a great time and there was no shortage of volunteering when needed.

To date we have only had one complaint about the show, (other than the heat) but we have received a lot of thanks and compliments from members saying our show team did a great job under the circumstances. We did however learn something this year and the board has plans to go over its notes and make changes for next year. There is nothing etched in stone yet but plans are already shaping up for next years show and it is looking like the show will be held at the Holiday Inn and Suites next year. As for the dates of next years truck show we have planed for June 12th, 13th & 14th, 2009 Hope to see you at next years show… SG
