"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves
together, as the manner of
some; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye
see the day approaching". - Hebrews 10:25
This study is incomplete as posted here. Lord willing I will finish it and make the notes known under the same study title in the future. But do read the passage yourself and compare that which I've written here with what God shows you personally, hopefully some of the spiritual truths I've found will be a blessing to you.
The end of time as we know it. Will we live to see this? Is Judgment Day around the corner. Will we know it is coming? Has God told us what signs He'd give us so we will know the end is near?
Something I've personally noticed is the ungodliness of many around us. People are truly becoming more evil, if that is possible. But while we see this happen, whether it be babies aborted in the womb, even in the 9th month of pregnancy or the average person next door who steals something from the grocery store and doesn't think twice about it, there are many who can't see anything wrong at all with time we now live in.
Just like it was in Gen 6:11 when God destroyed almost all life on this earth with water. The evilness is once again corrupting God's way - His Gospel. Actually that is what the verse points to. And once again the Gospel is being corrupted by the church. Why this point? I've noticed for some time now that people are really getting upset if someone says that the end is coming soon. Indeed most of us now hear this within the churches we attend. "You cannot know when the end is coming", sound familiar? "Only God knows and He is not going to tell us". I wonder why the church today is so set against date setting?
In the past cults have set them and were merely laughed at. Why are people so "upset" nowadays if someone sets a date for Christ's return? And truthfully, you don't have to set a specific date, all you need do is tell people that the end is near based on what you see in the Bible, you'll get a response I'm sure.
Some will look at 1Thes 5:2 and point out that the day of the Lord will come as a thief. No one knows when a thief is coming so how can we know when Christ is coming? Again pointing to their ignorance. God is using these people to remind us that we are in the end times simply by their denying that we are. God tells us verse 4 that we are not in darkness that this day should overtake us as a thief like it will the unsaved. We will know. These are people in the church. The world is not interested in end times talk. Only the church which has become apostate will deny the end coming.
In Mt 24:37 Jesus tells us that the end of time WILL be just like Noah's day. It was life as usual, verse 38. In verse 39 He then states that they did not know until they perished. The only ones who perished were the unsaved. Noah's family knew the flood was coming, hence the "as it was...so shall it be" thought. In Lu 17:28 Jesus again makes an analogy between Lot's day and the end of the world. They did not know until God destroyed Sodom. He then clearly points out in verse 30 that it WILL be the same way at the end. Again, Lot and family knew, the others did not believe him. Gen 19:14 "...Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law".
God IS warning us but do we seem as people who are mocking? Could it be that the people in Lot's day viewed him as part of an apostate church? One not worth paying attention to? They said one thing but did another and the world saw the difference. Walk the walk and talk the talk. The world sees what is going on in our ever growing apostate church and we are part of that. They see no difference and they do see a church that is sinful, just like them. No wonder the message falls on deaf ears. It's just like it was in Lot's day, all over again.
A closing thought. Even while books are being written about the end of time and dates are being talked about, the Bible has something very clear to say. Before all the NT talk about His return, God made it very clear in Psalm 19 that we are ALL accountable for our sins. We ALL know that there IS a God. The very creation cries out that there is a God. It uses a language that transcends all written and spoken tongues. Indeed Romans 2:14, 15 tells us that the knowledge of God is written in our hearts, that means it is spiritual in nature. If God so desires, He can also tell us of the end, He is not bound by our rules. Those who deny the end is near do so without biblical proof. The Bible states that we will see the day approaching.
