Flower Bud Tutorial from Terra Graphica Step by step instructions written with the beginner in mind.

Step A - 1) Create a symmetrical lattice, 2) enter the Terrain Editor. Step B - 1) Click new to delete the terrain, 2) click green elevation effects dots, 3) change grid to 512 ultra-fine. Step C - 1) Click cross ridges once, 2) click gaussian edges once, 3) crop to desired size. Step D - 1) Change elevation to lowest level, 2) set brush behavior to elevation, 3) remove a bud (or two, or three), 4) exit the Terrain Editor. Step E - Enter the Material Lab. Step F - 1) Click on the circle next to Diffuse, when the eye dropper appears, choose a color. I've chosen a dark lavender. 2) exit the Material Lab. Step G - 1) Duplicate the Symmetrical Lattice, 2) re-enter the Terrain Editor. Step H - 1) Change grid to 512-Ultra Fine, 2) raise elevation a little, 3) paint stems. Step I - 1) Lower the elevation, 2) increase the size of the brush, 3) remove the buds, 4) exit the Terrain Editor.
Step I - Enter the Material Lab and choose a plant material. Then exit the Lab.
Step I - 1) Click the Symmetrical Lattice object to select all symmetrical lattices,
2) click G to group the lattices.Step I - 1) Position the buds, 2) increase their size.
