tewfic

The photographic projects of Tewfic El-Sawy focus on documenting the last remnants of endangered cultures
throughout remote areas of the globe. He is fluent in four languages, and began his international
finance career with an American banking giant, living in as many as 15 countries including Great Britain, Pakistan
and Bahrain during that tenure. Currently a managing partner in an international investment group, he feels fortunate
to have visited 38 countries which helped his interest in travel and adventure photography to grow and mature.

With a keen interest in documenting the people and cultures of the countries he lived in, Tewfic
trained in photography with two leading British and French photographers. His images of our world's diverse
cultures are the basis for his documentary photography. Having led photographic expeditions
to India, Sikkim, Nepal and Bhutan, Tewfic’s most interesting project was the documenting of the Maha Kumbh Mela
in Allahabad in January 2001. The resultant web site is recognized by the Asia Society in New York City.

Tewfic lives in lower Westchester (New York). He considers the Internet as an unparalleled medium
to showcase his photography. He recently published on the Web various photographic web sites:
Out of Rajasthan, Faces of Rishikesh and Above the Clouds.
