Brian is a big boy. At 1400 grams, he is the biggest ferret we have ever had. He is extraordinarily gentle with human hands. Although he loves being turned upside down and tousled about like most ferrets, he will never put his teeth on your fingers -- very unusual. Brian is the active boy of the pair. He is coordinated, dextrous, and athletic. At high speed, he will pursue a toy squeaky-mouse pulled with a string for a long time before he finally "pancakes", laying belly-down flat with his legs splayed outward, exhausted. He is above average at climbing and jumping. Before the annual Christmas tree is decorated, he will climb up through it, exploring. And when one of his plush, sound-making toys are stuck magnetically to a metal door, he will jump into the air again and again until he finally snags them with his teeth. |

The name Pinkers is short for Pinkerington. Pinkers is the most cuddly ferret we have even seen. He can be picked up and placed in a lap, where he will yawn and stretch while his head is petted. He will stay a long time, eventually falling asleep. Intelligence is Pinker's forte. He surprises us with his ability to come up will efficient, original solutions to obstacles. And although he loves to chase and hide toys like all ferrets, this guy would be a terrible mouser! Hand-eye coordination leaves a bit to be desired. Pinks enjoys playing in water as opposed to Brian; if someone has to wade into the watering trough to get a toy, it's always him. And Pinkers also takes the trophy for diversity in what he eats. Whether it is fruit, vegetable, meat, cereal, or bread, he will taste it, and often finds he likes it. Brian, on the other hand, is downright finicky. If he doesn't like the smell of an unusual food, he will actually shake his head to display his distaste, and back away. It never ceases to amaze us how different these boys can be, even when it comes to their toys. Virtually every toy we have ever given them only amuses one of them, who then claims it to be their personal possession and hides it appropriately. When brought back out, only its "owner" will play with it! |

In closing, I should point out that despite their numerous differences, these two are best friends. Just seeing the variety of ways they can intertwine in their bed while sleeping is proof enough of their fondness for each other.
