kicks having no power... as both a ballerina and a tae kwon do black belt, I can
tell you that you don't want to be near any dancer with a high grande battement on a
bad day. Ballet is shaped to make it look light and delicate, but the power involved

Getting to yellow belt is different at every school and for every martial art. Some schools will let you wear a yellow belt after a month, and other schools will only let you wear it after training for a year or more. But keep in mind that the color of the belt isn't what martial arts is about. It's the strengthening of the heart and mind -- becoming the best you can be. I've met some white belts who are black belts at heart, and I respect them just as much for it. So it's not the color of the belt -- it's the strength of the heart that counts.

Once a month or so, or whenever I push that little extra bit, I get that feeling of a knife stabbing me in the left hamstring. Being almost 40 years old probably doesn't help! Comments:: hi ive been doing taekwondo for about a year and your sparring tips have help me quite a bit, but heres a question for you does your ready stance have to be standard two hands in front(guarding block) i find its much quicker if you stand sideways facing the left, have your right arm horizontal guarding your stomach for kicks and have your left arm blocking middle section with palm facing outwards. this stance allows you to go straight for a backfist follow by forward punch very quickly what do you think? i would like to hear from you
