Theresa SCHULTE
Theresa Schulte came to this country with her parents and siblings in 1880 according to the 1900 US Federal Census of Kent County.
She married Albert Schmidt, also a German immigrant, sometime between 1881 and 1887.
Below is a brief description of her grandmother by Peggy (Smith) Vogt.
"I remember my grandmother Theresa very well. I spent a good part of the summer and weekends at my grandparents house. My grandmother was rather quiet, almost shy, but very kind. She was a wonderful cook and baker, making her own sauerkraut, horseradish, herring, many German foods, breads, etc. Everything she made tasted so good and I often told her so. She was a very devout Catholic. Some of the happiest times of my childhood were spent at grandparents house. With my Aunt Bert and Uncle Al living there and my dear grandfather, those times bring to mind wonderful memories! To this day I treasure those memories." TKS note: It is interesting to note that my grandfather, Frank William Schulte, also grew and made his own horseradish. Must have been a family tradition brought over from the old world.
Husband, Albert's Petition for Naturalization shows that Theresa (Schulte) Schmidt was born in Westphalia, Germany 10-Sep-1867.
