Around The Corner

get this one before?
if it's depressing,
then perhaps you didn't get it
the first time you got it

it's sad,
but for those who learned from it,
it's a reminder
of how to be happy.

Around The Corner: By Henson Towne

Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell,
And he rang mine.

If, we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.

"Tomorrow" I say "I will call on Jim"
"Just to show that I'm thinking of him."

But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner!- yet miles away,
"Here's a telegram sir--"

"Jim died today."

And that's what we get
And deserve in the end.

Around the corner,
A vanished friend.

If you're reading this because you were sent the URL to this page,
then someone cares about you. If you're too busy to give the few
minutes that it would take thank them right now, would it be
the first time you didn't do that little thing that would make a
difference in your relationships? Will it be the last?

Once you learn how to pass up opportunities to share feelings,
it can become a hard habit to break.

This is a reminder. Let it remind you. Let it remind you that you
don't want to make the same mistake as the author of the poem.
If you do not send it, you will miss an opportunity to do share
and perhaps you should ask how many opportunities you let slip
through your fingers, and how that effects your relationships.

If you love someone, tell them. Always say what you mean.
Never be afraid to express yourself. Take this moment to tell
someone what they mean to you. Seize the day and have no regrets.

Most importantly, stay close to your friends and family, for they
have helped make you the person that you are today and are what
it's all about anyway. Pass this along to your friends. Let it
make a difference in your day and theirs. The difference between
expressing love and having regrets which may stay around forever.

I don't have to make up silly stories about people being hit by
buses or crushed by falling disco balls for not sending this
letter on. You can look at your own relationships and see if
some have been allowed to fade, dissolve, or fall into disrepair.

You could take this opportunity to make a few repairs. Maybe
even start anew. You could take a few minutes to tell someone
you care, Or maybe send this to someone who could use a reminder.

No one knows you care unless you tell them.
