WORKLIFE PAGES
...being some chronicles relating to what I do for money in this world...

another bit of

. . . PHEW . . .

piling on the hours... and before I can even get rolling into the marathon worklife, the brakes are hit by the politics and the usual suspects... I'll have to be more subversive (or at least covert) in my quest to earn enough money to recover from the most recent down turn in my personal stock market... alas, it's been a long time since anybody's invested in my stock... including me J

you recognize a Charlie Brown smile by now, right?

I was able to grab almost 80 hours last week, but one shift was taken away because I had too much overtime and I figured I was too new to raise too much of a ruckus... my displeasure was definitely loud and clear enough for the right people to hear it though and I don't think I'll run into the same problem again too soon... hopefully... I am learning that the competition for overtime is fierce and I'll need to get creative (and move a lot closer) to get the OT I need...

I probably won't have too much to say about the details here because the nature of the work is personal counseling, therapy, and generally helping and confidentiality is part of the ethics (and contract)... it's satisfying in many ways, though the system is frustrating due to poor planning, inconsistent organization, and a lack of leadership... we shall see how accommodating they are to my suggestions and attempts to reach beyond the my position as I learn more and offer whatever I can to the improving the current operation...

otherwise, the work is an ok challenge for me and I think I made the right choice in the type of work for me at this point... just need to stay open for other opportunities that offer more money (so the resume remains)...
