...being some chronicles relating to what I do for money in this world...
"I thought you was for real
but you're a rip-off deal
don't give me all that crap
I just escaped your trap
I think you see the joke
but you're just chasing smoke
you ain't another one
I know what's going on
your move... what do I have to lose?
stalemate... oh no! too late, too late"
~ Motorhead ~
I'm starting to wonder... is it Orlando... or is it the specific jobs I've been looking at... or is it something else... but the first word that comes to mind to describe the job market and management down here is... flakey...
be nice J
ok, so I head to the appointment with the VP of the staffing agency and there's a change in plans and instead of every weekend it will be every other weekend and maybe not and maybe other days and can I start tonight if they need me... uh-huh... apparently the person I was to replace sold him on giving another chance Friday and he didn't let me know... so the VP runs out for a few hours and tells me to stay and observe the system and learn what i can and answer some phones and review the staff and client lists and make some calls to the other offices I'll be covering on call if I have questions... fair enough...
but then the new office girl (who was hired cuz I wanted more per hour) asked me to leave because she and the old office girl wanted to discuss things they didn't want me to hear... I ask what the problem is and suggest we need a better relationship than this if I am to cover the evenings and nights for her office... so she calls the VP and tells me to go and the VP will call me in an hour... I ask where will he call me in an hour, she doesn't know... so I say i'll leave as soon as the rain lets up since it was pouring and they whisper like schoolgirls to each other until I go... I'll clear it up with the VP later and if he wants me to cover tonight he's going to have to be on call with me since I couldn't do the research I needed to do and make the calls from the office... and I'll make a point to ask him when I will be welcome at the office, period...
he's definitely too easy going and his employees reflect a lack of leadership and weak organization... all I know is I will remind him that he is paying me for Friday and today since that is what we agreed to on Friday and he asked me to come in and I didn't schedule any other appointments or interviews because he hired me, paperwork and all, on Friday... if he wants to pay me to be sent home, it will be an even easier job than I originally thought J
and all the more reason to focus on continuing...
IT'S THE GREAT JOB FOR THE NEW MILLENIUM HUNT!
