...THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE... (I HOPE...) THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE... (I HOPE...) THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE... (I HOPE...) THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE...
"The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese" ~ ? ~ I downloaded the 2002 version of ICQ today and CRASH! and now I have no ICQ on this computer... I suppose, since I haven't used ICQ in at least two years and haven't actually used it regularly since 1999, it's no great loss... maybe... then again, maybe my words touched a few people enough for them to still miss me (wait, the violinists are tuning up) and maybe I've lost more than anyone... all the inspirations, all the opportunities, and when I look at all the loneliness that hase surrounded me for years, I wonder if continuing the correspondences and chatting would have changed any of that... all the more reason to get a new grown up cutting edge (for at least 147 days) super duper computer... especially now that the intermittently sticking keys are intermittently driving me quite intermittently crazy... and so I spend the day (or was that yesterday?) searching computers online... actually paid for a subscription to Consumer Reports to do some research and the info was way too skimpy to be sure, but in laptops, Toshiba has the best ratings for most features, though Dell got the top rating based, I suppose, on the fact that it's battery capacity is almost twice the other models... seems strange nobody else takes battery life seriously... the Toshiba is the only laptop with excellent display/graphics ratings... especially for the over $2000 models that come with a 32MB graphics card and such... so I explored Toshiba and Dell, then Best Buy and CompUSA and seem to prefer the former based on price and what I read (especially since neither store carries the latter)... and while I don't have nearly the technical knowledge of what's out there (or in there) that I used to, I at least now have some idea of what I want under the hood, so to speak... I'm still not absolutely sure whether I want a laptop or desktop, but I'm still leaning toward the laptop cuz I have no easy place to put a desktop and also because, after six years, I am really totally spoiled by the portability... of course if I wait a half a year then a computer I buy today will not be obsolete... maybe I'll set a goal to finish catching up on these journals before I buy a new computer... that might take a half a year, or maybe a year, at least, at the rate I am going... nw that there are car payments on top of storage payments n top of rent and basic living expenses... alas, and I really do nt want to go back to working all those extra hours, especially not at this current place of employment... anybody have any good leads on good jobs out there?... I'd consider relocating for the right price... but then, I'm not sure what the right price is... I never did get into the whole selling myself thing... we can safely say that for a million bucks I'd probably relocate anywhere... at least for a little while J |
