The RCMBA Register
November 01, 2009 NEWS
An official welcome to our two new managers. Ron Zejdlik has taken over the old Lesco team and they've become the Texas Oilmen. Ron is a field manager with Fujitsu of America. He lives in Allen, Texas with his wife Judy and three children Keith, Josh and Nick. He's been playing APBA for some 37 years and his reason for joining us is to play with one of his kids in a basic game environment. Our other new manager is Brian Reagan. This is Brian's first league and in fact it's his first team. He's still a student so he's living at home with his parents in Henrietta, NY. That's just outside of Rochester. The name Joe Reagan is also listed. Joe is Brian's dad and will help out IF Brian needs it regarding game play or other advice. I hoped all of you will enjoy our league. APBA NEWS... The last couple of years the game company released it's BBW disk around Thanksgiving. I am expecting the same this year. RECORD BOOK If you've looked around on our website all this stuff is already there but if you didn't here what new records were set this past season.. In general it was a boring year for the record book. Not much new ink. We had two new records. Jose Reyes (LHi) hit 31 triples and broke Curtis Granderson one year mark of 29. Ryan Howard (Ran) set a new standard for whiffing with 230. That tops Derrek Lee's 222 set back in 2003. Getting near a record was Mike Adams (Les). He recorded 52 saves, one off the record and also Mariano Rivera's 49 saves breaks into the top ten. Mariano also posted the 2nd best ERA for at least 50 innings with a 0.38. Some other items of note from last season. Jermaine Dye (Les) led the league with 47 homers. That's the first time since 1993 that our leader didn't hit at least 50 homers. Mark Teixeira's leading RBI total of 133 was the 2nd lowest total in our history. Tim Lincecum (Ken) league leading ERA was close to breaking into our all-time top ten. In lifetime stats area, Todd Helton slipped a bit to fourth in batting average leaders but he's still a 300 lifetime hitter. Pujols broke into the top ten in that same category. Manny Ramirez is closing fast on Ken Griffey to take over the 2nd slot in RBI's. Pudge Rodriguez jumped up a couple of spots in lifetime hits and broke into the top ten in doubles. Manny Ramirez and Alex Rodriguez are knocking on the door to entering the 600 homer club. Greg Maddux pushed his all-time wins total to 368 and it won't go higher. Randy Johnson is just a handful of k's away from 4000. That's pretty much it in this area. Lifetime manager records still has Mike Fisher way out in front in WL%. About the only other item here is I'm within about 80 wins of Mark for the all time lead. That's it about records other than Abe Lincoln set a new record of 40 wins in the 7th inning stretch Presidents' race at Justice Park in Syracuse. Anybody reading this stuff? MVP & CY VOTING
One didn't vote and one who did only selected a winner. LOTTERY Our first lottery was on October 9th and the winning number was 4336. That resulted in Laurel Highlands moving up to the first pick in first round. Albuquerque moved up to second and Walla Walla to third. That caused Ohio to fall to fourth, Havre de Grace to fifth and Uniontown to sixth. IMPORTANT DATES January 24th (Sun) @ 11PM, EST - Cut down date... This marks the end of dealing draft picks and you'll have to trim your roster to a maximum of 30 players, carded or not. If you don't I will. Anyone cutting below 30 will receive bonus draft picks of an equal number beginning with round 9. Any trades made between this date and the Free Agent Draft will have to be for equal amounts of players from both teams. January 30th (Sat) @ 12 Noon -Free Agent Draft ... Got to choose a motel in Lancaster for the weekend of January 30th. It will NOT be Howard Johnson's. No, no, no. I'll get back to you in a bit on that location. BUD LIGHTS NEWS aka THE SHOW
