ABOUT HLDA

Hawaii Lion Dance Association is classified by the IRS as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. Earnings are donated to causes that perpetuate the Chinese culture and its arts.  HLDA perpetuates the Chinese culture thru the art of Lion Dancing for Birthdays, Weddings, Grand Openings and other festivities to entertain and bring good fortune.  The Association uses the popular Fut-Shan Southern Lion to perform traditional lion dancing.

The core of the group was formed in 1998 by a handful of friends who have or had affiliations with various other Chinese physical cultural assn’s and in their spare time wished to continue perpetuating the art of lion dancing while serving a noble cause.   Friends young and old eventually came wanting to learn the art, have fun, and help our cause.

We welcome inexperienced people who wish to learn the art of lion dancing and experienced ones who wish to continue performing for the love of the art and meeting new people.  We are not a martial arts association and we do not charge any dues/fees to those who wish to join our group.
