this is a M M is the 13th letter in the alphabet! There is a M here since 'M' is for Mendham! This M is blue since blue is a school color (I think!)

Ancient Artifacts from
Mendham High!

Hey Alumni!! Here on this page, we show many old artifacts from bygone days at Mendham High. These super old ancient artifacts were found on a dig - well, a dig through all the junk in my parent's attic, that is! We found things like school schedules, yearbooks, and textbooks, even! We were surprised to find anything that survived from me and my sibling's high school lives, but some things have! Maybe you have similiar artifacts at your house! So here we carefully display these fragile, ancient artifacts so they can float around the Internet for a hundred years. If you were looking here for a webpage about stuff found in the mud at Mendham High - Sorry! This site is not about that kind of artifacts!

And we ask the question - do YOU have any artifacts still left from your days at school? Has anything survived, anything at all .... ?

Artifact #1: My School Schedule from 1985
I kept this schedule safely locked in a vault so nothing would happen to it

Above: First artifact found is my actual sophomore year schedule from the summer of 1985! Remember how excited we would all be, waiting for these schedules in the mail, and seeing which teachers we would get? And then you would call all your friends and find out if they were in the same classes? And then you go to Guidance and try to get your schedule changed a million times until it was perfect? Well, bet I am the only one to actually keep one of these things! Still remember any teacher names here? Funny thing is, many of these teacher names are recognizable to even current students, as all teachers were still in the district in 2006! (And think they changed that locker combination in over 20 years?)

Artifact #2: My Senior Year Schedule from 1987
This schedule wasn't too bad with a fifth period lunch

Above: This artifact is my senior year schedule, from the 1987-1988 school year! Once again, this is the actual one mailed to my house. Can't believe it's still readable. Current students would probably only recognize a couple of names here, as most teachers moved on awhile ago. Remember DiBattista? He's some sort of big hot-shot in the district now! I think he's superintendent or something! Guess getting that Medieval History PHD back in 1988 actually paid off! And I bet many older alumni will recognize my English teacher's name from that year! Current students wouldn't recognize the nine period day, as it was done away with many years ago, in favor of some sort of confusing rotating schedule. I remember this year well, as it was the only year I didn't have a 8th period lunch!

   Artifacts #3: Real Text Books
While continuing our dig, we discovered some genuine Mendham High textbooks! Wait a second - we students aren't suppose to have any textbooks! Weren't we suppose to turn them all in at the end of every year? Ooops! (Don't tell anyone over there, thanks!)

This artifact is a mythology book, from Crane's freshman English class! Why on Earth do I have this? I didn't like mythology that much! This particular book is #852450, maybe #852459. And it's got that Mendham High stamp in red ink inside the cover! You know, I think I better destroy the evidence here ...

Here is another MHS textbook, from an Algebra 2 class I took. Love that 70's lime green color scheme! Can't believe this thing stayed together all these years, as I wrote it was in "horrible" shape in 1985! Remember on the inside cover of any textbook, you would write your name in? And then you would see who had the book before you, and if you knew them? This particular book is #811853. I swear, I didn't steal it, honest! I been framed! And why would anyone steal a math book, anyways!

I swear I have more textbooks, but I can't find them at the moment ...!

   Artifact #4: Band Instrument

I think my sister's kids stole my clarinet. They can keep it!     I played three years in the band, and I still got my old Clarinet case, from the early 1980's. This one is a Bundy, and I recall plenty of us band kids had them too, as they were a common starter brand of instrument back then. Funny thing is, my clarinet is missing! Where did it go? Thelma the Cat is checking into the situation!

Artifact #5: A bunch of Journeyman Yearbooks

O'Malley is confused!     We still got plenty of yearbooks at our house, in decent condition. Recognize any of them? We have here 1974, 1975, 1976, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, and 1990. Asking around, I find that most friends have pretty much lost track of theirs (left them at parents house or in storage), or their kids scribbled in them! in this photo, O'Malley the Cat is clearly confused as to why I put these books out here!

   Artifact #6: Minuteman Sitting-On Things

Whoa! Here's one from probably around 1987ish. These are official Mendham High Minuteman cushion things! These were very popular among the parents of kids in sports or band. These cushion's primary purpose was to help the parents sit more comfortably on the bleachers or on the ground, while they watched their kids. These things were very well built, as we still use them to this day to sit in the dirt in our garden. Go Minutemen!

Artifact #7: My Old Gym Class Shirt

Here is artifact #7 - my old gym shirt! Still fits, too. Don't worry, I washed it since 1984. This was a common shirt back then, as it was sold in the School Store. Remember that place? It was a little area near the door that led outside the back of the school, in between the Main and Auxiliary Gyms? I believe some version of the School Store now exists in the cafeteria, but some snacks or something are still sold in the old spot. Not sure where the pre-1982 crowd had a school store, since I don't think that hallway was there then. And on a side note about gym classes, there are no more "Gym Day offs"! Current students have no idea what that means!

So that concludes our display of fragile artifacts! I think we got more around here somewhere in all this stuff! So what ancient artifacts do you still have kicking around your house?
