My wife & I visited my Dad in '74. He had just bought an orange VW Thing. One look and I had to drive it. After the drive, I asked, "What is this (Thing)?" He replied, "They took the best VW parts & made this (Thing). 30 years later I have mine. When you wait 30 years to realize a dream the possiblities are endless. My Thing was purchased new from Heuberger Motors in Colorado Springs, CO in August of 1973. I am the 3rd owner. I was given $10 & two tacos to take my Thing home. (Good Deal)
