Five Alligators Caught In a Westchester Lake

Special to THE NEW YORK TIMES.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., Aug. 15.—Alligator fishing became the favorite sport today at Huguenot Lake, in front of the New Rochelle Senior High School. Police officials and game wardens received reports of the capture of five since Thursday evening.

No one could account for the appearance of the reptiles in the small lake, but Major Elvin L. Barr of Fort Slocum, who caught two with ordinary bass flies, suspected that they had been put there by some resident who had brought them from Florida as pets and then tired of them.

The longest was caught by Major Barr and measured nineteen inches.
