RoboconDiecast.JPG (16739 bytes)Dragon die-cast Robocon (3.75*)

Finally, a non Japanese company produces a quality Japanese die-cast character toy.  This new Robocon by Dragon is actually more authentic looking than the Popy original.  It is almost identical in size to GA-14, but much more posable.   It is also quite heavy for its size. The chest plate also opens, and the inner mechanism is almost identical in detail to its 45cm vinyl cousin.  Unfortunately the days of beautiful tin lithographs are gone, and the interior detail of this new Robocon is made of plastic material. (Nevertheless beautifully detailed.) One thing about these Dragon Robocons (both vinyl and die-cast) is that all the seams are either welded or glued together, there is absolutely no use of screws in either toy.  I suppose it looks better without the screw holes, but there is no way to repair the toy or reuse the parts if it ever breaks.  Robocondiecast2.JPG (20580 bytes)
