Combatler V (vee) & Voltes V (five)

I remember I used to own a vinyl Combattra during my elementary school days.   Combattra was only my third or fourth favorite super robot at that time, and if I had a choice, I would have traded it away for a Mazinger without reservation. But I never did own a Mazinger as a child, and it was that small Combattra that accompanied me through most of my childhood.  It served its purpose and provided many gratifying years of play time before it was finally decapitated and then completely disintegrated.  How I wish I still have that toy with me!

Comb&Volt2 copy.JPG (51095 bytes)Neither toy is perfect by any means.  For one thing, they are not very posable and Combattra's upper arms can only rotate 90 degrees at a time.  Yet both fall into the category of "the coolest toys ever made".  Their construction quality is second to none and the ingenious design for transformation is way ahead of its time.  Many people probably already own these two toys, so rather than go into detailed description of each, I will let you enjoy the scanned images.  (Sometimes it's a challenge just to take good pictures.) (See the details in each vehicle below?   I am anxious to see how the new SOC Combattra can top that.)
