2002 RVs
We recently made our annual pilgrimage to the Springfield (MA) RV Show.
There were some innovations in RV designs this year, most notably the
Sky Deck offered by Thor (above). Available in either travel trailer
or fifth wheel floorplans, they feature a deck on top including a propane
grill, sun umbrella, and wet bar surrounded by padded benches

Access is by a residential staircase located inside the trailer

This is the ultimate RV for you NASCAR fans. It might be nice
for evening drinks, sunbathing, or starwatching in regular campgrounds, too.
One downside I could see was that it precluded having any roof vents
over most of the RV.
Another innovation we saw in a couple of TTs and 5ers was interior bicycle
storage for the kids' bikes. This was accomplished by having the lower
bunk of a bunk bed fold up against the wall to make room for the
bikes
.
A small outside door was provided for easy access to the bikes. In
the RVs we saw, this space was too small for adult-sized bikes.
We really liked the looks of a large hybrid called Outback by Lite
Way
.
This trailer featured a kids room up front that really looked like
a kids
room
.
There were 4 bunks, a white wood bookshelf, and a toy chest. The
rest of the trailer was also finished in the same white wood, homey
decor
.
It was nice to see that the RV industry is still looking for innovative ways to make us happy.
