Dreams & Nightmares
by Miranda Hawkins

This was a poem written in my literary magazine class my senior year. It's not really one of my better ones, but I kinda like it anyway, so I thought I'd go ahead and put it up.

A dream is but a nightmare,
And a nightmare is but a dream.
I dream of solitude, isolation,
Never to be judged by others.
I dream of dark, overcast days
That fill my soul with longing.
I dream of acceptance
In a world that fears
The strange and the bizarre.
What do you dream of?
Do you fear the dark,
And the terrors that it brings?
Everyone does a little.
But stop and think.
One man's nightmare is another man's dream,
Or is it the other way around?
