Stangl introduced these unique wig and hat stands in 1965. Originally made as a special order for Landing Gifts, they were very popular and were later distributed later by Stangl as giftware. Originally distributed on a wood base stamped with the Stangl name, seconds can often be found on a round pottery base or with no base at all. The versions with a pottery base or without a base were typically marked with just a Stangl sticker. A male version was also made and tested for toupees. They are quite rare. In addition some of the wig stands were converted by Stangl into lamps.
