y = f(x), n. (Alg.) A symbolic way of stating that there is a function of x which produces a mapping from x to y.

Y-axis, n. (Math.) (a) The vertical axis of a two-dimensional Cartesian coördinate system. (b) One of three axes in a three-dimensional Cartesian coördinate system.

Golden Yard, or Yard and Ell (Astron.), a popular name of the three stars in the belt of Orion.
