THE NORTH BANK ROAD
Collectibles of the Spokane, Portland & Seattle Railway

A Journey on the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway and it's Subsidiaries Through Brochures, Postcards, and Other Collectibles.

"The North Bank Road", "Columbia River Scenic Route", or "The Northwests Own Railway", these are all phrases that described the Spokane, Portland & Seattle Railway. With a railroad system running from the arid region of Eastern Washington and Oregon to the lush forests of the coast the operations on the SP&S were as varied as the climate. Through its life trains operated not only under the name SP&S but also Oregon Trunk, Oregon Electric, Astoria & Columbia River, United Railways, Pacific & Eastern, and others. The SP&S was a true transportation system operating not only trains but ships of the Great Northern Pacific Steamship Company and the Dalles, Portland and Astoria Navigation Company and busses of the SP&S Transportation Company.
