IMAGES OF THE REVELATION(1)

by Paul Reimers

As stated by A.P. Adams, "The life of a Christian is faith; (GaI. 3: 11) the foundation of faith is knowledge; (Rom. 10: 17).  Knowledge  of God, as given through God's secret [now revealed] Christ himself, is the only thing that will establish, advance, and keep steady, a disciple of Christ."  Our mission is to provide the writings of spiritually inspired and gifted servants of God to assist  those in their spiritual search.  In this portion of our web site we offer a brief view of Paul Reimers's writing from his book titled Images of Revelation, From Jesus Through John(1).  We have selected text from the back cover of this book which relates to the writer's language discovery, and from "Part One - Three Spiritual Tools-Introduction", and "The Vision of the Son of Man." The Book of Revelation can be studied by the letter of the law; however through the Spirit, each searcher will receive life. The inward journey continues in the Hebrew picture language interpretation by Paul Reimers.
The publisher Fairway Press wrote, " At last a book on the Book of Revelation that makes spiritual common sense! IMAGES OF REVELATION presents an English translation from the Greek text, along with a meaning for every vision and symbol, that treats the whole book as a unity of consistent symbolism with meanings applicable to everyone! Read the poetry of the soul as it reveals the anatomy of your being in the universal symbolism of the collective unconscious mind, the language of our dreams. Learn to think in Hebrew picture language!"

PART ONE

Three Spiritual Tools

INTRODUCTION
.

"The Revelation of Jesus to John needs to be applied personally by us. And only as we apply it in the living of our lives will we come to a deeper understanding of its meaning. To make a beginning at understanding, we need first a restoration of picture language. A restoration of picture language is one of the things that needs urgently to take place today. Listen to the very first verse of the Book of Revelation: 'A Revelation of Jesus, which God gave to him to show his servants things which need to occur with urgency.'
If you see yourself as one of the servants of Jesus Christ, then perhaps beginning to seek to understand his Revelation to John will also help you continue to be his servant in ways that are needed for our day. This will come by hearing, understanding, and applying the Revelation to your life.  And to hear and understand you will need to think in picture language. Thus we need a restoration of picture language. This means a conscious understanding of the language of the unconscious mind, the symbols used in our dreams, and the symbols used in the visions of the Revelation. This picture language is poetry of the soul. The symbols in the visions have their own power to speak so that the message from Jesus to John also becomes a message from Jesus to us.
To understand this language we need new tools, new aids, to help us learn to think and understand the meanings conveyed by the visions. This symbolic language is concerned with our own being, our own body, mind, heart, and soul, as we live and move and feel and experience life within the earth. The symbols are a universal language revealing to the spiritual seeker the inner essence of our own nature and functioning. Thus the various aspects of the visions need to awaken a feeling understanding, as well as an intellectual understanding.
We need to let the Word in word pictures speak to us. This will awaken within us the appreciation of how we live and move and have our being in God, and he in us. The symbols need to become spiritual experiences in us. This is what they were for John. This is what needs to occur in us, urgently.
Purpose and motivation are vital elements in anything we do. If our purpose is to know our Lord and walk in his ways, and have a closer communion with Him, then the interpretation of the visions will become experiences of our soul. Without this highest of purposes we will not awaken to the depths of meaning underlying the visions.
The symbols of the visions are emblems of the forces that work within us. These forces may war within us during our journey through life within this earth. As we seek the meaning we will find what is lacking in ourselves. We will come before the Son of Man, and the Throne of God, with all that needs to occur within us urgently. And we will be giving the Holy Spirit the opportunity to bring the presence of Christ to us for his purging fires and inspiring harmony.
How we function in relationship to others will also be involved in this process, for how we relate to others is always an element of what is going on in our lives. If we are truly to be servants of Jesus Christ we will need to be certain things to other people. To speak in picture language, to begin our practice in thinking in picture language, we need to become as rivers of light, as fountains of knowledge, as mountains of strength, as pastures for the hungry, as rest for the weary, as strength for the weak.
Let us ask ourselves these questions and listen for an inner answer:

'Am I a river of light . . . to those in darkness?'
'Am I a fountain of knowledge . . . to those seeking under- standing?'
'Am ! a mountain of strength . . . for those going through trails, and
struggles and hardships in their lives?'
'Am I a pasture for the hungry . . . those hungering for love and mercy and
            comfort and joy?'
'Am I a rest for the weary . . . those who are tired, discouraged,
           depressed, or drained?'
'Am I the strength for the weak . . . those weak in body, mind, heart or
           soul?'
When we realize our need for grace to become these symbolic qualities, we are given the motivation to use the visions for opportunities for the Holy Spirit to work within us, to shape us and mold us and cleanse us and move us and awaken us. Only through the power of the Holy Spirit will we be given spiritual growth.
I am suggesting three spiritual tools, or aids, in this needed process of giving the Holy Spirit opportunity to make the Risen Christ present in our lives so that he can give us the impulse of his love, needed by our heart, and needed by the longing hearts of all upon the earth. These spiritual tools are based on three of the vital visions of the Revelation of Jesus to John and all the rest of us. By using these visions we can begin to use the picture language of the visions as they were intended to be used, to awaken our calling to be servants of Jesus and children of God.
The first tool is based on the vision of the Son of Man in chapter one. The second tool is based on the vision of the Throne in Heaven in chapters four and five. The third too! is based on the vision of the New Jerusalem in chapters twenty-one and twenty-two.
You will need to use creative imagination with active devotion to use these tools properly. This means you will be using the four basic forces of life around your throne as they were intended to be used. You will find out what this means when you get there. So read on. Picture on.

The Vision of the Son of Man

Let us seek to see the Son of Man in his resurrected glory. Since glory can be translated 'spiritual activity,' we could say it that way. Let us seek to see the Son of Man in his spiritual activity.
And let our motivation be simply to know him, to walk in a closer communion with him. This closer communion with Jesus Christ is what will allow us to become rivers of light, fountains of knowledge. mountains of strength, pastures for the hungry, rest for the weary, and strength for the weak.
Let us think of the vision of the Son of Man as being a revelation of the pattern, the blueprint, the prototype of spiritual functioning within the mature human being. The symbolism of this first vision reveals to us just how Jesus Christ functions. His abilities, his capabilities are depicted. And these abilities and capabilities are part of our own soul as children of God. We are all created in the image of God. We all have the pattern of the Son of Man deep within our very being.
Each of the elements of the vision are part of the being of Jesus Christ as the pioneer and perfector of our faith. Each of the elements of the vision are revealing abilities and capabilities which are to be awakened in us and developed by us. Like a dress pattern, the Son of Man vision gives us the design for our spiritual clothing. We are not to cut the pattern too excessive or too skimpy, but just right. Like a blueprint for a home, we are to follow the design on this blueprint as our mind works as the builder, responsive to Spirit, to build our own home, our own consciousness out of the building materials given us as a gift of our being. Then we awaken to the truth that we are a temple of the living God. Like a prototype airplane, we are to see in the vision of the Son of Man, the design for our being able to fly like an eagle, run and not be weary, as we walk through our lives, not as cripples, but in communion with our Lord.
So let us look at the first vision seen by John. With the awakening of inner light, John sees the Son of Man clothed in a long robe. This robe was no doubt formed of light--- pure, dazzling, white light. It was clean and pure, unstained and unclogged by the dirt of life's journeys. The long robe was a symbol of dignity, maturity, and complete covering.  The robe extended from the neck, center of the human will, to the feet, symbol of understanding and application to life."

We end our brief view of the writings of Paul Reimers from his book titled Images of Revelation, From Jesus Through John.  This presentation is perhaps too brief; however,  we will conclude at this point. For those seeking continuation we reference the publishing firm, Fairway Press.
