"Which inheritance has
been laid up and is now kept guarded in safe deposit in heaven for you are
constantly being kept guarded by the power of God through faith for a salvation
ready to be revealed in a last season which is epochal and strategic in its
significance." [1 Peter 1:4-5, Wuest Expanded].
The word "revelation" has become for
many a word that signifies a mysterious belief, a nebulous theory, a
way-out-doctrine which at best must be handled with extreme care, or preferably
avoided if at all possible. But this is just the opposite from the correct
meaning of the word, and of the consideration we need to give to that which is
revealed. The word "REVEALED"─ in the Hebrew is GALAH, and in the Greek is
APOKALUPTO, and means TO UNVEIL OR UNCOVER. That which has been uncovered is no
more a mystery! It is open to view and can be considered without fear since it
is no longer shrouded in mysterious or ethereal realms.
To those who stand in fear
of that which the Spirit is uncovering today, let us give again the reassuring
word of Jesus. "Of what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he
give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then,
being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, HOW MUCH MORE SHALL
YOUR FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN GIVE GOOD THINGS TO THEM THAT ASK HIM?" [Matthew
7:9-11]. "When He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all
truth." [John 16:13].
And to those who even
refuse to view that which is revealed, but turn their back and begin to teach
against it before they know what the matter is about, we can only give the words
in Proverbs 18:13, "He that answereth ( to turn back a word) a matter before he
heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him." But may the Lord give us eyes to
see, and ears to hear "what the Spirit saith unto the called-out." [Revelation
3:6].
Thank God, this is a day of
revelation, of the uncovering, bringing forth the visible manifestations of the
invisible. That we have been in a transition, and are now entering into a new
day, no one can deny, for even natural world affairs teach us this, and how much
more is it true by the witness of the Spirit. Yes, this is HIS DAY, the end of
all flesh is come, and the day wherein man wrought his works is ending. Now we
shall begin to see open manifestations of that which God has begun long ago in
the invisible realms. "Every man's work shall be made manifest: FOR THE DAY
SHALL DECLARE IT, BECAUSE IT SHALL BE REVEALED (uncovered) BY FIRE." [1
Corinthians 3:13].
Herein lies the sure proof
of any revelation, that which is able to abide the fire. An interesting command
was given to the children of Israel regarding the spoils obtained in battle,
before they could receive those spoils unto themselves, it was necessary that
"everything that may abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and
it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of
separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the
water." [Numbers 31:23]. There were some things, such as wood, or cloth, etc.,
which could not abide the fire, and these passed througb, the water. But all
else was to pass through the fire, not only to purify it, and make it clean from
the hand of evil men, but that the fire might also reveal whether there be any
hidden flaw or corruption, and thus unveil the true quality thereof. The day of
the Lord is a day of declaration, for the fire is revealing the true nature of
all things.
Often times we feel a
truth, a word of the Lord, has been uncovered to us, and for us it is a
revelation indeed, and we thrill to its import, but before this can become a
solid part of our being we first find that this "uncovered word," and ourselves,
pass through a fiery test, sometimes many degrees of testing, that any part of
this UNVEILED WORD that is polluted with a fragment of man's carnal thinking
might be purified, and only that which is of God abides. Yes, and we are
learning to thank the Lord for every fire which proves these things, for our
heart desires only that which is pure-free from all that would defile, taint ,or
weaken.
The Psalmist declares, "The
words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth,
purified seven times." [Psalm 12:6].
"Behold, I have refined
thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of afl1iction. For
Mine own sake, even for Mine own sake, will I do it: for how should My name be
polluted? and I will not give My glory unto another." [Isaiah 48:10-11].
That which the Lord is
receiving unto Himself cannot be of an inferior quality to Himself, hence the
purging, the purifying, conforming all unto His own image. How marvellous is the
grace wherein He has made it possible for us to "become partakers of the divine
nature." [2 Peter 1:4]. To be "joined unto the Lord, one spirit." [1 Cor. 6:17].
That we might be able to share His glory. "And the glory which Thou gavest Me I
have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one." [John 17:22].
His glory shall be shared,
but not with an inferior realm, hence the need for the fire to thoroughly
purify, that we might be revealed IN HIS IMAGE, to be fused into one with
Himself. We must pass through the fire if we would be found approved-every
inherent quality in us becomes revealed, uncovered before God, discovered unto
ourselves, and unveiled before the world, as those possessing His nature alone.
There is a salvation ready
to be uncovered, even that which is now reserved in heaven for us, it is ready
to be revealed at the appointed time, at which time the Holy Spirit also shall
have us prepared to receive it. "This means tremendous joy to you. I know, even
though at present you are temporarily harassed by all kinds of trials and
temptations. This is no accident-it happens to prove your faith, which is
infinitely more valuable than gold, and gold, as you know, even though it is
ultimately perishable, must be purified by fire. This proving of your faith is
planned to result in praise and honor and glory in the day when Jesus Christ
reveals Himself." [1 Peter 1:6-7, Phillips].
When everything in us has
been duly put to the test, and found to meet divine specifications, then shall
we be ready for that. salvation which is now ready for us. Now, this salvation
is resident in Christ Jesus our Lord, "whom the heaven.must receive until the
times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all
HIS holy prophets since the world began." [Acts 3:21]. And so "our conversation
is in heaven, from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ."
[Phil. 3:20]. "Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to
the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus
Christ." [1 Peter 1:13].
In this hour the first
fruits company stands upon threshhold of the revelation of Jesus Christ. "And
unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time with─ out sin into
salvation." [Hebrews 9:28]. Then shall the portions that we have now received as
the "earnest of our inheritance" be swallowed up in the fulness thereof, and
salvation shall be made complete. Flesh and blood cannot produce this revelation
of Christ, but then shall be fulfilled the scripture, "Unto you first God,
having raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every
one of you from his iniquities." [Acts 3:26].
Now, that salvation is more
than an experience, but also a person, namely our Lord Jesus Christ, this we
understand, for "BEHOLD, GOD IS MY SALVATION; I will trust, and not be afraid:
for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and song; HE ALSO IS BECOME MY SALVATION."
[Isaiah 12:2]. However, the thought doesn't end here, but expands according to
the scripture, to read, "Beloved, now are we the children of God, and it doth
not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He Shall appear, WE
SHALL BE LIKE HIM; for we shall see Him as He is. And every man that hath this
hope in Him purifieth himself." [1 John 3:2-3].
"Herein is our love made
perfect, that we might have boldness in the day of judgment : because AS HE IS,
so are we in this world." [1 John 4:17]. What a tremendous statement, and who is
sufficient for these things ? "Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think
any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God." [2 Corinthians 3:5].
Herein is a glorious truth─
while Jesus Christ is OUR salvation, as we receive of His fulness, becoming one
in Him, we, in turn, become the salvation of others. "I will also GIVE THEE for
a light to the nations, THAT THOU MAYEST BE MY SALVATION UNTO THE END OF THE
EARTH." [Isaiah 49:6]. Even Paul picks up this great prophecy and applies it to
those through whom God ministers, "For so the Lord commanded us, saying, I have
set thee to be a light of the nations, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto
the ends of the earth. And when the nations heard this, they were glad, and
glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life
believed." [Acts 13:47-48].
Because God has been, and
is now actively preparing a son-company through whom His salvation shall flow to
the ends of the earth, we find that "whatever we may have to go through now is
less than nothing compared with the magnificent future God has planned for us.
The whole creation is on tiptoe to see the wonderful sight of the sons of God
coming into their own." [Romans 8:18-19, Phillips]. What a day of revelation
this shall be- the disclosing, the unveiling of the sons of God, those who have
been developed and matured in Christ, prepared to become His salvation to the
ends of the earth. " And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is
called of God." [Hebrews 5:4].
Yes, SALVATION IS READY TO
BE REVEALED. A manifold revelation, of Christ unto the sons, that they might
receive the fulness of their own personal salvation; and then of the sons unto
the world, that the world might begin to be drawn unto HIM Who is the Way, the
Truth, and the Life. "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all
unto Me." [John 12:32]. Praise God for ever more!
"THE REVELATION OF JESUS
CHRIST...."[Rev.1:1]. This statement, at the very beginning of this book, is the
inspired key to all the contents which follow. This is not merely an uncovering
of things to come, but the unveiling of a Person, CHRIST. How weak and foolish
is the human subsitute given as man's title to the book, "The Revelation Of
Saint John The Divine." That this was revealed through the beloved apostle, we
know, but to begin with, surely John would never have consented to the word
"Divine" after his name. Nor is it merely a revelation "through" John, but
rather IT IS AN UNVEILING OF JESUS CHRIST.
Understood as THE
REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST and immediately the book is changed from a
compilation of unrelated events to a progressive unfolding of the very victory
and triumph of Christ. Each part of the record, of the woes, thunders, vials,
beasts, in all of their sundry and various situations, are all to serve but one
purpose, and are allowed to exist for one end, namely, TO BRING FORTH A
REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST. And as this revelation comes to its magnificent
conclusion, when He says, "Behold, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW." [Revelation 21:5], we
find that as the words are given, "Surely I come quickly," [Rev. 22 :20] , that
the apostle John is so overwhelmed and enthralled with it all, he has to
respond, "EVEN SO, COME, LORD JESUS."
"Even so, come..." True,
not all the uncovering is glorious at the time, the woes and thunders are a
fearful experience, and the occurrences of the beasts and dragons, with their
rise and fall, are shuddering to the natural mind, but viewed from the position
that all shall ultimately result in a complete revelation of Jesus Christ, John
has to say, EVEN SO, yes, Lord, inspite of all this, however it must be, the
revelation is so glorious, COME, LORD JESUS. Yes, with all our hearts we desire
Thy coming, tarry no longer, let the events unfold as they may, we desire the
complete uncovering of our Lord. Surely the vision is for "an appointed time,
but at the end He shall speak and not lie: though it (He) tarry, wait for it
(Him) ; because it (He) will surely come, it (He) will not tarry." [Habakkuk
2:3]. Note that Hebrews 10:37 changes the word "it" into "HE."
The revelation of Jesus
Christ─ we are quite accustomed to restricting this to our Lord, and our many
translations never apply it to any other person. But it would be well for us to
understand that this is not a proper name, which belongs to Him alone, but it is
a title which He shares with others, even though He, in this case, as in all
others, has the preeminence. HE is known as KING of kings, and LORD of lords.
[Rev. 19:16]. "For the Lord is a great GOD, and a great King above all gods."
[Psalm 95:3]. And HE shall "be the Firstborn among many brethren." [Romans 8:29]
.
It is significant that in
the very beginning of the book of Revelation, as we come to the sixth verse of
the very first chapter, it speaks of how HE "hath made US kings and priests unto
God," and as the revelation progresses, with THE CHRIST always as the central
figure, we next find Him standing AMONG THE SEVEN GOLDEN CANDLESTICKS, with a
special message then given to the OVERCOMERS out of these various churches. Thus
in the revelation, uncovering of Jesus Christ, we also come to the UNCOVERING OF
THE OVERCOMERS. And on through the book, again and again we see this manifold
revelation, THE SON and the sons. On Mount Zion is THE LAMB, and with Him are
one hundred and forty-four thousand, "these were redeemed from among men, BEING
THE FIRST FRUITS unto God and to the Lamb." [Rev. 14:4]. Or again, we see the
Lamb, "and they that are with Him are called, and chosen, and faithful." [Rev.
17:14]. Time and space forbid our examining each chapter and verse to point out
all these aspects in this unfolding revelation of THE CHRIST and His anointed
ones, but surely they are a part of the "salvation ready to be revealed in the
last time."
Blessed are the people that
hear the joyful sound, "Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of
our God, and the power of His Christ (literally, of His anointed ones)."
[Rev.12:10].
"Giving thanks unto the
Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints
in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated
us into the kingdom of HIS dear Son: in Whom we have redemption through HIS
blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the
firstborn of every creature. ─That in all He might have the preeminence."
[Colossians 1:12-15, 18].
"Who being the brightness
of glory, and the express image of His person..." [Hebrews 1:3]. Yes, our Lord
Jesus Christ is the pre-eminent manifestation of the invisible God, as "the Word
was made flesh, and dwelt" among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of
the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." [John 1:14].
And now, as we come to
"know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His
sufferings, being made conformable unto His death," [Philippians 3:10], we find
that our life is being brought to nought, self is crucified, "and your life is
hid with the Christ in God. When the Christ, Who is our life, shall appear, then
shall ye also appear with Him in glory." [Colossians 3:3-4]. Thus concurrent
with the revelation of The Christ is the revelation of our own life. We look at
ourselves and see such lack, and feel we have so far to go if we are to be
brought into His fulness─, ah here is the discrepancy in our understanding. We
do not contain all of our life, IT IS HID IN HIM, why then look at ourselves and
expect to see fulness? We do not contain all that is to be unveiled to the
world, it is yet IN HIM, and not until He appears, and we see Him, and receive
that grace which is to be brought unto us through that revelation, will we
possess all that is to ultimately be uncovered before the world.
We say, "I'm not ready yet"
because we look at the "in part" which we possess, forgetting that this is but
the earnest of our inheritance. Look at HIM, see JESUS, for all that you are to
be is IN HIM, He is your salvation, He is ready to be revealed. And so it is,
creation eagerly awaits the uncovering of the sons, for all the hope of blessing
that is to be ministered through them to creation. But the sons now in final
preparation yearn to see HIM, for all that they ever shall be is hidden in Him.
What tremendous UNCOVERINGS lie just before us!
"It pleased God, who
separated me from my mother's womb, and called my by His grace, to reveal His
Son in me, that I might preach Him among the heathen." [Galations 1:15-16.]
Beloved friend, is this
your calling? That we should become the sphere of the revelation of Christ, and
able to announce Him to the nations, becoming His salvation unto the ends of the
earth? Not only is Christ to be revealed to us, and in us, BUT THROUGH US─ that
others might be drawn unto Him. Not until He has been uncovered to us, and in us
so that every part of our being is filled with Himself, will we be fully ready
to be uncovered before the world. Have not our hearts groaned within us as we
have ministered thus far― possessing in part, we could but give Him in part, and
surely whatever wasn't HIM, was just us. And while they received of Him and were
helped, when they received just us, personality, ego, self─ it only brought them
into more distress. Ah, how we long to become channels through which His pure
life can flow, yes, to become vessels containing only HIM. "No more I, but
Christ living in me." Do not become faint-hearted, He who hath imparted this
vision shall fulfill it, and we rapidly draw near to the appointed hour when
SALVATION SHALL COME TO THIS HOUSE, even that FULL salvation now ready to be
revealed. My life, my light, my glory shall come─ it is all in Him, and it
draweth nigh. Then, receiving of this fulness, the uncovering will progress in
its various phases, as we, too, are uncovered to the world.
"Who am also─ a witness of
the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be
revealed." [1 Peter 5:1]. Glory─ even that glory which can not be shared with an
inferior company, but shall be given to those who become ONE IN HIM. "If so be
that we suffer, with Him, THAT WE MAY BE ALSO GLORIFIED TOGETHER." [Romans
8:17]. Some, unable to comprehend this tremendous scope of being joint-heirs
with Christ, would protest that this is taking away from His glory, robbing Him
of that which is His. But we are reminded of the words which Jesus prayed,
"Father, the hour is come; glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee."
[John 17:1]. How can we ever glorify Christ until first we have received of His
glory? Surely we have nothing of ourselves with which to glorify Him. Only that
which we have, and shall receive of Him can we use to bring glory to His name.
Hence the extreme measures being taken to purge and purify the sons that they
might be vessels in whom He can place this glory. With all self-glory,
self-pride, self-will removed, so that they shall not turn this divine glory
into their own use, and for self, but shall utterly and completely use their
inheritance in Him to glorify Him.
"Every valley shall be
exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be
made straight, and the rough places plain: AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD SHALL BE
REVEALED, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath
spoken." [Isaiah 40:4-5].
Paul taught that "man─ is
the image and glory of God." [1 Cor.11:7]. Not man in just his fallen state,
but especially man who has been brought into conformity to Christ, possessing
HIS nature, HIS image, and abandoned to HIS will. This is part of the glory
which is to be revealed. Interesting also to note that the word "glory" in the
Hebrew means "heaviness," which speaks of SUBSTANCE, not just effulgence or
nebulous mist. God is bringing forth PEOPLE into Himself, and they shall be His
glory in the fulness of their redemption.
"Thus saith the Lord, Keep
ye judgment, and do justice: for My salvation is near to come, and My
righteousness to be revealed." [Isaiah 56:1]. "For He hath made Him (Jesus) to
be sin-offering for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made THE RIGHTEOUSNESS
OF GOD IN HIM." [2 Cor. 5:21]. To God be all the praise! He is preparing to
unveil a people who shall have become His righteousness, fully purified and
brought into His true holiness. Much─ so very much is now READY TO BE REVEALED.
May God help us to walk softly before Him, looking for the revelation of
Himself, and that full salvation─ even the fulness of the LIFE that shall be
ours, and which presently is Hid with Christ in God. It is a TRIUMPHANT WAY that
He is leading, and which shall bring us into His full TRIUMPHANT LIFE.
READY TO BE REVEALED
Ready to be
revealed─ 'twas this He said to me,
When
storms had filled the dark of night,
And all
my heart cried for the light,
To loose from the
bondage of present vanity.
Ready to be
revealed─ what kind of words are these?
A
message filled with vibrant hope,
Speaking
of doors that now do ope,
Ending all the
travail of man's Gethsemanes.
Ready to be
revealed─ salvation full and free,
Redemption to the uttermost,
Beginning with the first fruit host,
To manifest His
love in clear reality
Ready to be
revealed─ till all the world shall see
The
overflowing of His grace
Extended
to the human race,
To answer every
prayer earth made on bended knee.
Ready to be
revealed─ Spirit and Word agree,
The past
is past, the new begun,
With God
and man becoming one,
Fulfilling the
vision the prophets did foresee.
Ready to be
revealed─ list' to this blest decree,
The Son
and sons come to the hour
Of
resurrection's mighty pow'r,
Unveiling now His
life once held in mystery.
