Whispers of His Judgments

Chapter 7

JUDGMENT REST FOR A LIGHT

"Hearken unto Me, My people; and give ear unto Me, O My nation: for a law shall proceed from Me, and I will make My judgment to rest for a  light of the people. My righteousness is near;  My salvation is gone forth,  and Mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon Me, and on Mine arm shall they trust." [Isaiah 51:4-5].

Young's Literal translation for verse four reads, "For a law from Me goeth out and My judgment to the light, PEOPLES I DO CAUSE TO REST."
God has purposed to bring His people into rest, "every man in his own order... [1 Corinthians 15:23], until all creation shall be restored into the peace and harmony of His kingdom, to His glory and praise, The process and outworking of this is, however, quite the opposite from what most of Christendom would suppose. They would like to dream away and hope that Christ will come and carry them to the skies in some mystical and secret rapture, take all their burdens away, dry their tears, and give them a glorified vacation in heaven. Such is not the case according to the Word of the Lord, HE SHALL SPEAK FORTH HIS LAW, AND FOLLOW IT WITH HIS JUDGMENTS, and when these have fully worked in mankind, then will He have caused His people to rest. The utterance of His Word, with the correctional processes to bring man into alignment with that Word, will result in universal peace.
The time element is signified by the statement, "FOR A LAW SHALL PROCEED FROM ME," Once God thundered from Mount Sinai, and a law went forth, "added because of transgression, till the SEED should come."[Galatians 3:19]. It served as a schoolmaster (child-conductor) to bring men to Christ. Given as a restraint, to hold back the people from plunging ever farther into sin. It was a ministration imposed upon man until the SEED should come. Jesus Christ is that Seed, yes, but it also bespeaks of that whole ANOINTED, or ENCHRISTED company of which He is the Head. While the Head has come forth, the Firstborn of many brethren, we find that the "brethren" are still in the process of being perfected, hence there is a sense in which we are still waiting for the completed CORPORATE SEED to come. So we still have much of the trappings of the old law order remaining, imposed upon the people until that hour when the vision of the SEED is fulfilled.
Might we also point out, it was not the law itself, but the ministration of that law, which would be changed. Jesus clearly stated, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." [Matthew 5:17-18].
Natural man, motivated by the lusts of the flesh, could not, however, keep the righteousness of the law, and so it became unto him a "ministration of condemnation... and death." [2 Corinthians 3:7-9]. For it became a witness against the people, in that through the weakness of their flesh they were unable to keep the law, and so be a partaker of its righteousness.
Then God sent forth "His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin (literally, for a sin-offering), condemned sin in the flesh: that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." [Romans 8:3-4]
Following the law given at Mount Sinai, came a demonstration by the people that the natural man could not keep such a pure and holy law. Then Jesus came, and gave that tremendous "sermon on the mount," [Matthew 5 -7], of Kingdom principles, which also has been followed by man's experience that flesh cannot live such a standard. "To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." [James 4:17]. Therefore man continues under the load of condemnation and guilt.
Now, in Jesus Christ, we find a life that is able to fulfill all the righteousness of the law, and then He imparts to man OF HIS SPIRIT, so that by this enablement "the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, BUT AFTER (by the means of) THE SPIRIT." The man after the flesh will mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit will live and do the things of the Spirit. HIS LIFE, now abiding in man, enables man to live out the righteousness of the law.
"For it is GOD which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure." [Philippians 2:13]. Only in the measure that He imparts of His Spirit to us, and works IN US of the righteousness of the law, can we live it out in our daily lives. The "in part" cannot yet manifest perfection, but we are "confident of this very thing, that HE which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." [Philippians 1:6].
"Lord, Thou wilt ordain peace for us: for Thou also hast wrought all our works in us." [Isaiah 26: 12]. Strangely enough, however, Christendom has fallen for the lie that while God started it, unless we help Him out, it will never be finished. So man proceeds to tell God how to do His work, when to do it, and the very method and manner whereby He should accomplish it, and with all this carnal meddling, they wonder why there are no lasting and positive results. So there are again those "judgments" which bring us to the end of all our self-works, that He might be both "the Author and the Finisher of our faith." [Hebrews 12:2].
Thank God, He will impart His Spirit to man, to dwell in us and enable us to LIVE IN THE SPIRIT, and WALK IN THE SPIRIT, and BY THE SPIRIT to fulfill the righteousness of the law. Indeed, HE is able to keep you from falling (Greek, stumbling), and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy." [Jude 24].
Of Jesus Christ, we read, "Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began." [Acts 3:21]. With eager longing we yearn for that hour when the heaven shall release Him, and He shall come forth, King of kings, and Lord of lords, to establish His kingdom upon the earth. And we would "gird up the loins of our mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace which is to be brought unto us at the revelation of Jesus Christ." [1 Peter 1:13]. In the meantime, however, He does freely pour out of His Spirit upon us, to enable us to follow on to know Him more and more, helping us to "grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ." [2 Peter 3:18]. Thus, "the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." [Romans 1: 17]. Though the heavens often are silent, no laws thundering forth, by faith we proceed, and He leads onward step by step, "from faith to faith."
True, the Lord speaks within His own, by His Spirit, "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches (the out-called)." [Revelation 3:6]. And He speaks to the world through His messengers, His pastors, evangelists, teachers, etc. but there has been no major, dispensational DIVINE UTTERANCE since that time that THE WORD (Jesus Christ) came forth from the Father, and then returned to the Father. Men seek "the Lord, if haply they might feel after Him, and find Him, though He be not far from everyone of us: for in Him we live, and move, and have our being..." [Acts 17:27-28]. WHOM HE FINDS AND REVEALS HIMSELF TO, these are hearing the Word of the Lord, but it is just a remnant, a little flock so favoured of Him in this hour. Men are seeking after Him, and not finding; GOD IS SEEKING MEN, AND HE IS FINDING. "No man can come to Me, except the Father which hath sent Me draw him." [John 6:44].
But it is also written, "And they shall all be taught of God." [John 6:45]. Therefore we are drawing near the hour when once again a message is going to be heard, and again  the voice of the prophet will sound the call, "0 earth, earth, earth, hear the Word of the Lord." [Jeremiah 22:29].
Why do we say there will be a message coming forth? Because He is even now preparing HIS WORD COMPANY. The message and the messenger must become ONE, a state of being that is a living witness of His truth. He is daily apprehending to Himself an elect, taking them "one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion." [Jeremiah 3:14]. Then follows the next verse, which reads, "And I will give you pastors according to Mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding."
When this ZION COMPANY has been perfected, conformed to His image, a partaker of His divine nature, to become HIS MESSAGE─ then "Out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." [Isaiah 2:3-4].
How we long for the fulfillment of this prophetic word. His kingdom to be established, peace and tranquility to fill the universe, and they shall not learn war any more. What shall they learn? They shall learn HIS LAW, HIS WORD, and walk in "the more excellent way." But not until He has brought His elect to Zion, to become ONE IN HIS WORD, can the law go forth from Zion. His pastors, teachers, shepherds must become ONE WITH THE MESSAGE, before He, through them, shall send forth the Word that heals, brings deliverance.
Significant that while, as already quoted, "they shall all be taught of God," [John 6:45], there is only one verse in the whole New Testament that speaks of what God teaches, and uses the Greek word "theodidaktos," literally, "GOD TAUGHT," and it is found in 1 Thessalonians 4:9, "But as  touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: FOR YE YOURSELVES ARE TAUGHT OF GOD TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER." Man has many laws and regulations, with creeds and doctrines abounding, but God has just one, and only HE can teach it. "LOVE, which is the bond of perfection." [Colossians 3:14]. "LOVE is the fulfilling of the law." [Romans 13:10]. "GOD IS LOVE." [1 John 4:8], that is His nature, and therefore only HE can rightfully teach us TO LOVE. But once we have been made partakers of HIS  divine nature, and are one in Him, then we shall "in Christ's  stead" be able to teach the way of love that we have become.
This law, the royal law of love, that shall go forth, is not like unto that former law that was given─ for the ministration thereof is being changed. The former ministration was of condemnation unto death, but his will be a ministration of the Spirit unto life and righteousness. It is the Spirit that quickeneth, and the words which shall be spoken are "spirit, and they are life." [John 6:63]. A love-expression that shall transform all who hear and receive it.
Of this greater ministration, we read, "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them." [2 Corinthians 5:19]. The former ministration was a judgment against, it was always offering condemnation to any who could not live up to the standard set forth. Nothing wrong with the standard, but much lacking in the ministration. It was ministered by men with infirmities, under the knowledge of good and evil. They stated this was right, that was wrong, and when you did the wrong you were charged with guilt. It was condemnation unto death. But when one ministers from the tree of life, there is no imputing of sin, but only that "holding forth of the Word of life." [Philippians 2: 16].
The emergence of this WORD-COMPANY OF ZION signifies that the transition from the old STONE AGE into the NEW AGE has been made. No more will it be an out-ward law written in tables of stone, but it will be the LIVING WORD ENGRAVED UPON THE HEART AND MIND. With the speaking forth of the message will be the luminated understanding so that people will KNOW the way wherein they are to walk. Furthermore, it will be spoken BY THE SPIRIT OF LIFE so that they will receive life which enables them to walk in this revealed, more excellent way. No wonder this is a ministration of life and victory.
With the going forth of this SPIRIT OF LIFE LAW, it rightly follows that the next statement should be, "I will make My judgment rest for a light." Judgment─ that correctional process which will bring each individual into harmony with the law that is going forth. It is the mandate of God, His sentence upon all unrighteousness, including the full justice of its correction.
A judicial sentence is called "a judgment," and to be complete, it not only takes into account the past error, lawlessness, iniquity, etc. but also speaks forth the means for its correction, atonement. Men go on to serve their sentence, and when finished, that judgment is complete. The sorrow of earth's judgment is that we are unable to CHANGE THE CHARACTER of man through the execution of the sentence, so they usually go back to their way of crime again. But God's judgments are beautifully REMEDIAL. They will bring a change. As His judgments are carried out, it will work a subduing, a change of mind, until that erring one will turn from their wicked ways, and receive the love and salvation of the Lord. Judgments do not save men, they condition men to be saved. JESUS CHRIST SAVES MEN. Judgments are a means to an end, HE IS THE END, He is the consummation, HIS NATURE IS THE FINAL VICTORY.
So perfect will be this judgment, it will REST for alight. Notice this word "rest" from the Hebrew word "raga," meaning: to cause to rest, to give quietness. Yet most significantly, three times it is translated as DIVIDE.
"He divideth the sea with His power." [Job 26:12].
"Divided the sea, whose waves roared." [Isaiah 51:15].
"He divided the sea when the waves roar." [Jeremiah 31:35].
What caused the sea to roar? When the action of the atmosphere, the strong winds blow, mixing with the waves of the sea, and the pull of the moon's gravity (type of negative forces), mixes it all up until it becomes a roar, billowing high and falling again against the seashore. When God moves in and DIVIDES, separating the wind from the water, and brings a quietness, the sea is at rest. It is a process that requires separating the mixture that brought confusion. The wind returns to its place. The gravity pull is balanced out, the energy forces that churned and billowed are put in place, and all is quiet and at rest.
Babylon bespeaks of CONFUSION, it is the MIXING OF SELF into the truth, and it has brought turmoil and unrest everywhere. Self-will and the will of God do not mix and again we have the sea and waves roaring. Judgment will bring a DIVISION, separating the light from the darkness, the good from the evil, the order from chaos, His Will from our will, until DIVINE ORDER has been established, and we learn to move in harmony with His will and purpose.
Furthermore, mankind has often been 1ikened unto the sea, "The wicked are like a troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt." [Isaiah 57:20]. While the "prince of the power of the air" has moved upon these waters and stirred them up into a frenzy, seething, rolling, filled with unrest, driven and tossed. CORRECTIONS WILL BE MADE. "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his messengers fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his messengers, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. ─And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, NOW IS COME SALVATION, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ (anointed ones): for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night." [Revelation 12:7-8, 10].
The principalities and powers, dark cosmic forces will be subdued, and they will no longer prey upon creation. GOD WILL DIVIDE, give quietness, causing these negative forces to cease their agitating action upon the people. Judgment reaches into all levels, from the heavens to the lowest hell, until the whole shall be dealt with, UNTO THE LIGHT. Brought to the light, to see the folly of all wrong doing, and the blessedness of serving God with a whole heart, and this restoration and regeneration shall bring peace.
The agitators have wrought havoc among the nations, stirring up the people, youth, minority groups, etc. and they have taken peace from the earth. But the days are numbered, and the judgments draw near. Correctional action is about to begin─ not to destroy the nations, but to establish His righteousness and bring true divine order in peace and harmony. This vision burns brightly in the heart of His elect, and it shall be fulfilled.
By what standard shall this be accomplished─ this division, this separation of evil from good, until there is quietness, and creation is brought to the light? BY THE PURE LAW OF GOD AS DISCERNED BY THE SPIRIT. With a "mandate" from the Throne, we shall be able to separate into proper subjugation all tangled circumstances, "according as He is able to subdue (set in array under) all things unto Himself." [Philippians 3:21]. The Son will reign until all enemies are subdued under His feet, including the last enemy, which is death.
He will reign─ and HE WILL DIVIDE until all is in its proper order and place once again, ending the mixture, ending the duality.
How beautifully the end returns to the beginning. Genesis 1:2-4, "And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness." AND GOD SAID! Yes, "A LAW SHALL PROCEED FROM ME..." And with the utterance comes the corrective judgments which shall divide, bring quietness, and rest for a light of the people.
"For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life." [Proverbs 6:23]. And praise God, "The entrance of Thy words giveth light." [Psalm 119:130]. For He who is the LIVING WORD is the Light of our life.
"The works of His hands are verity and judgment." [Psalm 111:7]. It is a balanced handiwork! He speaks that word of truth and then girds us up to it in rightness, blending it all together. It is not all Word and no experience, it is not all discipline with no Word. But truth and judgment go hand in hand, bringing forth a creature that is found to His praise.
Praise God, the message of His judgments is not a message of DOOM, it is not negative declarations of fire and brimstone. It is not the forecasting of wars, earthquakes, famines. They might be apart of the process, but the purpose is to REST FOR ALIGHT, to set in array in divine order, to bring harmony and peace.
Man will never beat his sword into a plowshare, nor his spear into a pruninghook, until there has been a LAW given forth from Zion, accompanied by the judgments of God working to align him to that law. Furthermore, let it be ever remembered and often repeated, all the action of God's judgments spring from the motivations of LOVE. His nature is love, and all that He does is in love. His law will be given in love, for the hand that brings the truth is love, and the other and that corrects us until we are in harmony with that truth, is also love.
His judgments will not overwhelm us, because then the people will know the WHY of the chastening, to what end they are being led─ even into His righteousness. Since the law goes forth, there will be the knowledge to sustain through the processings. When you know WHY you are going through a trial, it is much easier to bear, or there is a reason and a purpose, with the end result being for your good. How we yearn for this WORD OF THE LORD to come forth. So much of what we have gone through in past trials and provings has been "in the dark," not knowing what was taking place, or why, or what we were being processed for. But as the truth comes in, and the light shines upon man's pathway, he will be able to "count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience, (to the end that) ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." [James 1:2-4].
Again the prophet Isaiah declared, "Yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers." [Isaiah 30:20]. When the law goes forth from Zion, it will be through those "pastors and teachers" which He has brought to Zion. There will be a manifestation of the sons of God─ creation shall see, and know that these are they whom God hath ordained to bring them into light. UNDERSTANDING ACCOMPANIES THE  JUDGMENTS, and that is why they shall be effectual in bringing about a complete restoration.
"When Thy judgment are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will LEARN righteousness." [Isaiah 26:9]. THEY WILL NOT LEARN WAR ANY MORE, but they will learn righteousness. "I will praise Thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have LEARNED Thy righteous judgments." [Psalm 119:7].
"Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it. And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord God." [Ezekiel 14:22-23].
A remnant brought forth─ a people perfected into His image, conformed to His nature, all righteous. When the world sees this, then they will understand the purpose of the judgments, the chastenings, the disciplines. It is that they, too, might be made partakers of His holiness. And it will bring comfort to them. "When ye see their ways and their doings." When you have a visible demonstration of what HIS LIFE really is. When you see how God's processing has yielded such a "peaceable fruit of righteousness," then you will learn to submit also, and be changed. There will be an example of RIGHT WAYS, and of RIGHT DOINGS, and it will bring comfort to the nations. No wonder it is said that His Judgments shall rest for a light, and peoples He will cause to rest, to have peace.
"Thy judgments are as a light that goeth forth." [Hosea 6:5].
"The Lord is known by the judgment which He executeth." [Psalm 9:16].
What a revelation is coming, until ALL SHALL KNOW THE LORD, from the least to the greatest. What produces this ILLUMINATION? When His judgments rest for a light! He will be KNOWN by the very judgment that He executes. His Lordship will be understood, and before Him every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess. It will be a worship that is freely offered with joy, with understanding, for they shall KNOW HIM─ "And this is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent." [John 17:3].

'Mid atmosphere so rife'
So filled with mortal strife,
While fear rules every life,
And pierces like a knife

'Mid earth's most troubled hour,
As dark'ned clouds do lower,
Each force bent to devour
In clashing, grasping power.

'Mid this, the blackest night,
Shall God send forth alight,
Dividing wrong from right,
The tarnished from the white.

His glorious "hewn out stone,"
Shall sit on judgment's throne,
And make the message known,
As righteousness is sown.

They shall not ever fail
To conquer evil's pale,
For judgment doth prevail,
A new life to unveil.

The triumph of His grace,
Beyond all time and space,
When love shall then embrace
The whole of Adam's race.
