Christian Nature of This Website
I was raised as a Christian - more specifically as a Methodist. As a result of my personal beliefs, I have created this website on the basis of my Christian background. That does NOT mean I believe Christianity is the only valid religion in the world. This website is a celebration of God's power and love, regardless of specific religious beliefs.
I ask that you interpret the content of this website in relation to your own particular beliefs - Christian or non-Christian. I invite those of all faiths to join our Prayer Circle, to submit Prayer Requests and to celebrate God's love and awesome power. The strength of our combined voices can move mountains.
The Beginning of My Mission
In the Spring of 1999, I was watching television and saw a commercial for the book Power for Living, by Jamie Buckingham. I had seen this same commercial several times before, but that night I decided to call the number on the screen and ask to have a free copy mailed to me.
I received the 134 page paperback in the mail a week or so later, but I did not get around to reading it for about a month. After reading through the entire book, I decided I wanted to ask God to take control of my life. I began this process by reading aloud the following prayer from the book:
"Dear God, I've been living my life my own way. Now I want to live it Your way. I need You and I am now willing for You to take control of my life. I receive your Son Jesus Christ, as my personal Saviour and Lord. I believe He died for my sins and has risen from the dead. I surrender to Him as Lord. Come, Lord Jesus, and occupy the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be."
God's Direction for My Life
The time since I asked God to take control of my life has been so peaceful and fulfilling. That is not to say that "bad" things don't happen to me anymore. But, I know that God has a plan for me. All of our experiences, good and bad, shape who we are.
One of the first things I experienced was a potential job change. I prayed for guidance and God answered. I'm sure that everyone experiences God's assistance in different ways. For me it's generally the feeling I have when I wake in the morning, having asked God's guidance when going to bed the night before. I have never felt as confident about making a job change as I did that time. And the new job has truly been a Godsend.
Since that time, I have asked for God's help on many occasions - and I have never been disappointed.
Around the middle of 2000, I began thinking about creating this website. I feel this is something God has asked me to do. Spirit Move Me is my first website, so I am simply following my heart in its design and content. Through the Prayer Circle, I hope to provide a forum for others to participate in the celebration of God's power while helping those in need.
