The Refection of Spirit

By Michael Chojnacki and Maureen O'Day

The eyes are the windows of the soul.  Love, compassion, resentment, tolerance, cruelty, or whatever feeling is within, are all reflected outward.  Since the mind controls the body, anything that is harbored for a long time in the mind will inevitably show in the body, especially through the eyes.

Have you ever noticed famous portrait paintings where the person’s eyes seem to follow you as you walk by the painting?  If you look at the eyes in the portrait, they are relaxed and calm.  Relaxed eyes have a wider field of vision, whereas hard eyes appear narrow and domineering.  When you are relaxed and centered,

your eyes naturally become soft and humane, reflecting the true spirit within. That is why the eyes are considered the “windows of the soul,” the spirit is easily reflected through eyes that are calm and never frowning.

Words are also an expression of the spirit.  Regardless of how clever your speech may be, if you lack sincerity, you will not connect to the hearts of others.  The most important element in communicating with others is to be sincere while speaking from the heart.  Words sound and feel empty when they lack love.  Yet, when a heart is filled with love, words bring comfort, strength, and encouragement to others.

Kind eyes and a calm voice reflect the positive energy of the spirit.  Peace and harmony are not found in the externals of life, but within you.  When you fill your heart with love, your whole being becomes a reflection of spirit that radiates to the world.
