The Zerg are a race of macroparasites, somewhat insect-like in nature, that often mutate those who they infest. The Zerg could also be considered to include said mutated creatures, which often posess sentience and the ability to work for a common goal. 1.2 What is Infestation? Infestation is the process by which a creature is mutated by the Zerg. It is a blanket term for a range of biological and other changes. 1.3 Where can I get it? Many Zerg are all to keen to provide their services for those interested in infestation. 1.4 What biological requirements must be met? Infestation can be performed on essentially anything. Even being a biological creature is unnecessary. 2.1 How much of my body is changed? This is dependent on how much you prefer. Some take only internal and moderate external modifications, while others will prefer massive visible changes in form. 2.2 How is the Infestation performed? The infestation is set up via applying a Zergball-- a piece of concentrated Zerg essence-- to the body, which spreads and mutates the flesh. It proceeds extremely quickly. 2.3 Can it be removed? A device/spell called the World Filter has been developed. It is installed before the infestation and can be used to removed or installed at will, taking the Infestation with it. 2.4 I want feature X. Can I get it? Infestation can provided with a choice of desired features. There are essentially no limits as to what it can provide. Most notable are specially-lined stomachs that allow the digestion of anything, improved regeneration, massive groups of spines and points, high-concentration adrenaline, and a diminished need for rest. Wings and extra limbs are also available, as well as hard shells. More may be available-- ask your local Zerg before infestation. 2.5 Can I eat that? Should I eat that? Yes, and probably no. A new Kia is not part of a well-balanced breakfast, and costs more than its equal mass of Frosted Flakes. 2.6 Can I make it another of my forms, if I am a shapechanger? Yes. Even if you're not a shapechanger (see FAQ 2.3) 3.1 Will I retain my own mind? We rogue Zerg leave you your mind, but any Zerg of the Hivemind will make you part of the Hivemind. 3.2 Does it make my own mind less secure? This depends on who infests you. Some Zerg have developed techniques to close any new openings in the mind made by infestation, while others leave them in for access by high-ranking figures. 3.3 Is there a living sensient inside me I can relate with? Disappointingly, no. 4.1 Does it make me a less "pure" creature? That's utterly dependent on the perspective of you and your species. It may be considered that "You're not stopping being an X-- you're starting being a different kind of X." 4.2 Do I have to become loyal to the Zerg? No. 5.1 I keep switching forms when I don't want to! You're probably using a World Filter and are uncertain of which form you prefer. 5.2 I look hideous! You've become the CoeurFuege 5250 of living beings- Hideous on the outside, durable and feature-packed on the inside. Some also consider such forms cute or attractive. 5.3 What do I refer to myself as? You have plenty of options, including but not limited to just plain Zerg, Zerg-, Zergified , derived Zerg, Infested or Tony. What you use depends on what image you wish to project. 5.4 What should I know about relating with other Zerg? Some Zerg are allied with a hive-mind. Beware of them. In addition, in some cases, Infestation may open holes that other Zerg (most likely higher ranking ones) may use to mess with your mind. (See FAQ 3.2) 6.1 You still haven't answered my question! So? 6.2 What to put in a request for help. One of the following: A $100, £50, DCR 100, or 50 Euro note, or a piece of computer hardware. 6.3 I want to mail someone about my problem. You may desire to contact an Infested creature. One can be found at Sparhawk_YMBAW@postoffice.worldnet.att.net, and another at fouldragon@aol.com 7.1 Feedback is invited Send any feedback to one of the following addresses: fouldragon@aol.com, shadowdrake@smeghead-state.edu, /dev/null. 7.2 Formats in which this FAQ is available This FAQ is available in plain ASCII text formats. 7.3 Authorship and acknowledgements The Infestation-FAQ was written by Sparhawk and Marada C.
