The Cox/Wolff Certificate This was the first of what is now called the "omega" design. Having no restrictions on me for my own wedding
certificate, I created the most perfect design I could imagine at that time. It has become one of my most popular designs, and I have improved on this many times over in many different
reincarnations. I chose many images from traditional chinese paintings, including the crane, the symbol of happiness, the bat, the crysanthemum, among others. (This is because have close
ties with China, having visited there in 1976, and having a chinese step-mother, Lie as well as a half brother and sister who are Chinese-American.) The little ship represented the
Mayflower. (I am a third generation Mayflower descendant; Constance Hopkins married John Snow who came over on the Anne three years after the Mayflower landed.) My husband, Michael was
particularly fond of the yin-yang symbol, and it also had significance for our union. So I also incorporated sublte male/female imagery in the flowers and symbols, which often appear in pairs and
complements around the border ring. |
