Notes:

The following information was taken  from ship manifest records.  Source for the records was the Ellis Island Data Base.  I have used exact spelling as it appears in the manifest records.

(1)  My Great Grandfather, "Andras Czmori" sailed from Bremen, Germany on December 15, 1901 aboard the SS Kronprinz Wilhelm. He arrived at Ellis Island, New York on  December 23, 1901.  Andras Czmori was 38 years old, married and his occupation was listed as a labourer.  His wife, Maria Dzurnyak, did not travel with him but came to the U.S. later.  His nationality was listed as "Hungary" and his last residence was "Nagy Lucska".  Andras final destination in the United States was listed as Braddock.   According to the manifest record, he had a ticket for onward travel to Braddock and the ticket was paid for by himself.   He arrived with $8.00 and to the question of whether he had ever been in the United States before, he entered  "no".  Andras was met by a cousin named Janos Grogonski.  The address for the cousin is very difficult to read but it looks like "Penn Ave 1207, Bradd."  Click here for a picture and history of the SS Kronprinz Wilhelm

(2)  My Grandfather,   "Andras Zmorej", (later Andrew Smorey),  sailed from Fiume, (now part of Croatia) aboard the SS Ultonia on November 10, 1904.  He arrived at the Port of New York on December 5, 1904.   He was 14 years old.  His nationality was listed as "Hungary".  His "Race or People" was listed as Slovak.  Andras final destination was listed as Jersey City, New Jersey.   He traveled with Balint Bucz, age 16, a tailor, and Karoly Koterba, age 38 ,a labourer.  All three were from Almas, Slovakia.  Andras was met by his father, Andras, whose address was listed as "Henderson St 451, Jersey City, NJ".  The New Jersey address is probably just where he stayed while awaiting the arrival of his son.  Young Andras arrived with $12.00.

(3)  Destination for Pal Czmorej was Cleveland, Ohio to his brother Andras Czmorej.

(4)  Janos Czmorej, born 1884, from Zsegra, Slovakia went to Bridgeport, Pa. (?).  His uncle's name was Andras and his father's name was Janos.

(5)  Mihaly and Pal were cousins.
