When Cary met me, he never realized that he would become a "flock" member. In fact, I don't think he was really a bird person….. An animal lover, yes, but birds?………….

I have always loved birds especially parrots, but since my move from San Diego to Tucson, I find myself more devoted to Avian behavior and education. Thanks to a very special lady in San Diego, I have been able to devote myself to learning as much as I can about parrots and their care. In 1998, another good friend from San Diego, Barbara, and I started a rescue organization = TARA (Tucson Avian Rescue & Adoption) because we really were unable to accept any more parrots into our personal flocks. Since Cary & I met, we have added 3 new rescues to the flock. To say nothing of the two Poodles that now share our home. Both of these poos came to us needing a new and loving home. To hear about our Poodles, click on the Poodles link below…..

Another way that Cary helps me get the word out about parrot education is by being there for the Fids while mom goes out to teach ParrotCare classes or when I am able to make it to a bird conference. ParrotCare is another joint Barb & Shar venture to help people understand the importance of quality bird care. So, off we go about twice a week to teach our classes. Thanks to a couple of vet offices, a pet store and referrals ( and Cary handing out my card!) we are doing well with Parrot Education.

My youngest son is the reason that I got "online" and on the WWW. He lives in California and told me that it would be the easiest way to keep in touch with him. Email is much easier than trying to get a hold of a teenager on the phone ;-}

Thanks to him, I have enjoyed my ventures through Cyberspace. It has opened up a new world of information ( like the weather page whenever I leave Tucson for " colder" parts of the country LOL ), I have been able to share information with other people who have the same interests that I do, and the best part is that whenever I do travel, there is most likely some cyberfriend where ever I am going. I have been able to meet many of my list friends in person, and hope to meet many more.

Sure is a good usage of sitting time.......Thanks to a very good friend who came over and sat with me on my first venture into "publishing" my site, I have gotten more brave and am having fun doing it almost all by myself.
