The Spirit of
Christmas Past
"There once was a Land
of Cavaliers and Cotton fields
.....called The Old South...."

Moonlight & Magnolias by Mort Kuntsler

This memorable opening line tells us to look for Dixie only in books, for it is "Gone With The Wind."  The Old South may be just a mist of memory, and there are those who may hold misgivings about Dixie.   But to a daughter of the South, it is our heritage. A heritage rich in pride, honor, and charm. Ours to cherish and  instill in the hearts of the generations which will follow. Our guarantee that Southern fair ladies and their cavaliers will always be more than just a dream remembered.

Pause with me and venture back to a time in the past  where
it would seem Christmas had forgotten. Spend a season with our ancestors, the mothers and fathers of our beloved Dixieland.

Celebrate Christmas thru the eyes of Varina Davis, the wife of President Jefferson Davis, President of The Confederacy.
Then a brief look at the hardships they faced in the later
years when the end of The Confederacy was inevitable.
After reading some of the journals written by women and
soldiers of The South, facing the hardship, heartbreak, and
horror of war, I think there will be a greater understanding of our past.  Where we came from, how far we have come, and the well trodden road which was paved for us by a
civilization that will never take it's final bow.
