   JIM GREEN FLY CASTING GAMES RULES FOR SPRING 2000

SATURDAY EVENTS: Single handed rod games start at 10:00AM. Registration for steelhead distance ends at 11:00AM. Two handed overhead distance starts at 1:00PM. Registration for the days events ends at noon.

SUNDAY EVENTS: Spey casting events start at 10:00AM and all casters must be registered by that time, 10:00AM. Registration fee for all games is $15.00. All fees collected are used for expenses only.

RULES

TROUT FLY ACCURACY: Five targets from 20 to 50 feet. Two casts are made to each target. The caster starts with 100 points and 2 points are deducted for each foot the target is missed with no more than 3 points deducted for each target. Everyone must use the furnished line, which is WF5F with a 9 ft leader. A 5 weight 9 ft.rod must be used and can be the furnished equipment or the casters own.

SINGLE HANDED STEEL HEAD DISTANCE: The longest of five casts will be the score. The rod must be 9and ½ ft. 9 wt. and can be the casters own or the furnished rod.

All casters must use the furnished line, which is a floating 9wt. shooting head with a 9ft. leader.

TWO HANDED OVERHEAD DISTANCE: The longest of five casts will be the score.

The rod must be no longer than 15ft. The line must be a floating shooting head no longer than 45ft. the running line must be no smaller than .020 average diameter. The leader must be 9ft. Casters may use their own equipment or the furnished equipment.

TWO HANDED SPEY DISTANCE: Five casts from a river right start and five from river left. The longest cast from each side will be scored. The rod must be no longer than 15 ft. The line must be floating with no other restrictions. Running lines must be no smaller than .020 average diameter. All leaders must be 9ft.min. A BUHR GRASS LEADER is recommended. A foul line will be placed 30 ft. in front and 30 ft. behind the caster and the line must not cross the foul lines prior to the final power stroke if it does, that cast will not be counted in the scoring but will count as one of the 5 casts. There will be no specified casting style.

THE PERPETUAL TROPHY will be awarded to the North, South, East or West. The winning team will be determined by totaling the five highest scores from each area. The area team with the highest total keeps the trophy until the next games held, spring and fall.

PRIZES will be distributed among event winners with a special prize for the lucky person with the average total all around score.

THE BUHR GRASS LEADER is made with soft 30# monofilament with a blood knot every 3 inches. The blood knot tag ends should be trimmed to about ¼ inch. High visibility green or pink is easy to see.

OFFICIAL FLIES will be furnished for all events.
