How To Order

Ordering is simple: Send us an email.  Be sure to mention "Slide Rule" in the subject line.  Email that doesn't mention "slide rule" or "slide rules" gets discarded as spam without opening.  (Please avoid sending emails larger than about 50KB.  We're in the rural Ozarks and our only Internet connection is slow dial-up; large files cause the system to hang up and the only way to restart it is to delete the email without getting a chance to see who it's from.)  We'll respond with exact costs and where and how to send payment.  We accept cash, money orders, personal checks and PayPal.

If you do not receive a response within three days, please send another email using a different return email address.  Since about May 2007 many of our responses have been returned as "undeliverable for policy reasons."  (This often means that your ISP is not accepting email from our ISP for some reason.)  In particular, yahoo.com is rejecting nearly all mail from The Slide Rule Trading Co.  If your email address is something@yahoo.com and you haven't received a response from us, it is because yahoo.com rejected the response.

Shipping Charges in the United States

Charges approximate our actual costs for postage and
packing materials; we don't charge for "handling."
Parts shipped free with other items; $2.00 if shipped alone.
Single book, student slide rule, or leather case shipped in a padded envelope: $3.50.
Everything else: $7.00.

Shipment is at buyer's risk.  We have never had a loss  and only one damage claim
but USPS insurance is available:  $1.70 for coverage up to $50, $2.15 for coverage to $100,
$2.60 to $200, $4.60 to $300 plus $0.95 for each additional $100 coverage over $300.

International Shipments

We normally ship packages weighing 2 lb (0.45 kg)  or less via "First Class Mail International" and charge estimated actual postage plus $2.50 for packing materials.  We self-insure First Class shipments at the same rates as domestic mail (see above).
For packages over 2 lb, "Priority Mail International" is the more economical service since the Post Office provides free boxes and insurance at its regular rates.  We charge estimated actual postage and insurance plus $2.50.

International Payments

PayPal is simplest.  PayPal charges your credit card or bank account in your local currency and credits our account in dollars.  Second is an International Money Order in dollars.  For other methods our bank charges $15 for items in foreign currency or drawn on foreign banks; please add that to your remittance.  Wire transfers are not practical since our bank charges an exorbitant $21 to $25.

Guarantee

We will refund all costs, including shipping both ways,
for any item that is not at least as good as advertised.
