| DESCRIPTION
Easy kit to build. About 24 soft vinyl parts. Comes with a white metal pistol. Elfin is a recast company, and the castings suffered. There were many pin holes to fill. Assembly was straight forward. Fixed pose kit. CHANGES I replaced the vinyl shoulder fins with ones cut from styrene. All parts were trimmed of the pour stumps and modified for post-paint assembly with brass tube and rod. No decals were provided for the 70 or Saturn logo so I decided to omit that detail. FINISH Primer - Krylon Grey Primer spray can. I was worried it would react with the vinyl, but it went fine. Wet sanded down to 600 after primer. Paint - Airbrushed all over Tamiya white. Tamiya Blue for the blue. Neutral Grey for the covers. Gunze Clear Orange and Enamel Gloss Yellow was used over the white base for the lights. Polished with tooth paste after painting for smooth surface finish. Future Acrylic was used for the clear coat and Testors Acryl Matt Coat was the final coat. Weathering - Used a combination of inks, enamels and pastels to accent the panel lines. It has a clean look but is not factory fresh. |
