A seldom-found glaze, it requires a two-step process to apply. First coat is brushed on and allowed to dry until it is tacky, at which point the second coat is brushed on and swirled into the first coat to produce the desired effect.

Delphinium

A common shade of blue. Just a little darker than Cadet

 

 

Cadet

O, C, D, W, T

A common medium blue a little lighter than Delphinium.  Sometimes about the same as Delphinium.  You can only tell by knowing what color it is supposed to be (ei Cadet body on Rose Parade)

 

 

Lune Blue

O, C, T

Almost like Cadet but just a little lighter and more toward lilac.

 

 

Platinum Blue
Old color???

C, T

Lighter than Lune.  Several Philadelphia's have been found in what looks to be Platinum Blue.  The color matches the new mark Hall Donut teapot. (Thanks Beverly)

 

Marine

 

O, C, D, W, T

A deep blue, but brighter than Cobalt. Not an Art Glaze

Midnight Blue

Similar to Old fiesta dark blue.  An Art Glaze.
Novelty teapots & kitchenware items. Has the HSQK stamp and no decal or gold. Ivory or white on the inside.

 

 

Blue or Dark Cobalt
Dark Cobalt Blue
O, W, D, C,T A common very deep blue.  Hall's old color name was just "Blue"
 

Concord

T

A current color easily confused in pictures with Cobalt but if you look at the actual item this color is very distinct. Not as bright, a little more toward dark purple. A post 1970 color

 

Dresden Blue

Deep blue

Amtrak Blue

Exclusive to Amtrak, a shade between Dresden and Delphinium
National line items made for Amtrak

Introduced in the teens Hall has always stocked its current shapes in this color.

 

Garden

Called Westinghouse green at the plant
Westinghouse General/Emperor pitcher and leftovers, Hercules/Aristocrat leftovers

  Art Glaze Green   This is similar to Garden green but more mat in texture and just a bit lighter.  It is a green between Emerald and Garden. This is an Art Glaze and has the HSQK stamp and no decal or gold. Ivory or white on the inside.
 

 

Emerald

A common bright green. Sometimes has brown highlights.  Darker and brighter than Lettuce.

 

Lettuce

A shade of light green with very slight brown highlights
Green Phoenix/Patrician
Common on Medallion/Colonial Kitchenware

 

Turquoise

O, C, D, W, T

A Deep Green - not at all like the color of turquoise gemstones. Some teapots, a Hotpoint round.
Turquoise, Green Lustre, Teal Blue and Spruce Green are a bit tricky and must be compared against each other. See Pictures!

 

Green Lustre

Hotel items like ashtrays, vases, candlesticks pin trays, comb and brush trays, and spittoons were stocked in green lustre only.

Forest Green

Rich deep green. On the outside of the Green and Yellow two tone restaurant pieces.  Don't mix up Stock green with this color.

Many teapots - Celadon, Cascade and Monterey Greens are similar but only next to each other they are they easy to tell apart.

Chinese Red

O, C, D, W, T

Possibly Hall's most easily found color (and highly sought after) An art glaze, therefore easily marked or damaged, this color has a wide range of shading from an almost black red to a orange red.  "Fire Engine Red" Ivory or white on the inside.  Has the HSQK stamp, round or new rounded square, and no decal or gold. Ivory or white on the inside.

 

 

Coral Red

C, T

Not as bright as Chinese red - a slightly more rusty color. Side by side easy to tell from Chinese but not easy in pictures!

 

Sunset

D,W

A shade of orange-red used on Westinghouse refrigerator ware. Leftovers for General & Hercules
May be the same color (or nearly so) as Mandarin. Similar to Fiesta Red but glossy.

 

 

Mandarin Red

C, T

Darker than Indian Red.  Similar to Fiesta Red but glossy. "Wheaties box orange" May be the same color (or nearly so) as Sunset. (Sunset if on a Westinghouse item otherwise Mandarin?)

 

 

Indian Red

O,C,D,W,T

Despite its name, a very bright shade of orange. An Art Glaze. Called Screaming Orange by some collectors. "Color of an Orange Peal ". Generally has the HSQK stamp and no decal or gold. Ivory or white on the inside.

 

Poppy

C,D,W,T

A pinkish red.
I have seen a Hall sample color tile labeled with this color and I have an item in this color. Others think this is a more red color hard to tell from Chinese but flatter - I have no definitive information.

 

NoBlue

D

Not really a "color name" but the name of a line of pieces. Contrasting glazed in Chinese Red and Hi-White. (Red, White but No Blue)

  Salmon   A color from the 80's.  I had a pitcher this color but I can't remember what it looked like. Printed on a McCormick Teapot Hall box in the 80's.
 

 

Tomato C New in 2001?
M'MM Good - Campbell's tomato soup color.  Almost like OLD ROSE but not as shiny and a little darker. Same color inside and outside

Maroons - Pinks - Lavendars - Purples

Nearly the same color as Fiesta's 50's color rose.

Discontinued in the early thirties when certain materials for its manufacture became unavailable.  More rusty in color than the newer rose.

A bright yellow, close to Daffodil. An Art Glaze.  Has the HSQK stamp. Ivory or white on the inside. Called Screaming Yellow or Citrus by some collectors.

"Bright" Yellow I don't know the name of this color.  It is a very bright yellow with almost green tones.  I have only seen this on marmites so far but it is probably on other institutional ware as well.  See Picture.
Citron D, W Inside of two tone items (this is inside either the green or the brown items - collectors books differ in descriptions).  Similar to Daffodil.
