Doing a Google search for adjustable height work tables I found many different models available. However the cheapest ones were in the $500.00 to $600.00 range. Until I found that Harbor Freight sells what they call an adjustable hydraulic lift table for $139.00. This is basically a cart that has a 500 lb capacity top that can be raised or lowered hydraulically with a min height of 9" to a max of 27¼"
I bolted a ¾ in plywood top to the metal table (the metal table is approximately 17.5 X 28 inches). I made 6" wooden riser blocks under the plywood top so that now I have a work bench that is adjustable from approx 16" to 34" high. The lift handle is actually a foot pedal, which makes raising the table very convenient. To lower the table you just squeeze what looks like a bicycle brake handle. The whole operation works very smoothly. You can use it either with or without the wheels. The wheels have a brake so that if you do use the wheels the table is still held securely in place.
Northern Tool also sells the same table for the same price.
