For Brown, called the Parisian method that is reported to give a beautiful deep brown:

Slow process so give it time.
Also while these chemicals are for the most part chemicals found in some of the older Gilbert Chemistry sets you need to be careful in using them. They can cause skin irritation and burring. Don't drink it or use for an eye wash, wear gloves, eye protection.
If you are interested in old Formulas, what people did in the early 1900's try getting the book Fortunes In Formulas by Hiscox and Sloane, 1901. If you want to try any of the books offered information please remember that this book was published before people were generally recognized as being incompetent and irresponsible. I also don't recommend the process on how to bleach your skin. The section on cosmetics is a real hoot.
