Entry #57 Wednesday, July 21st, 2004. Welcome to the NEW ShaneHelms.com. I hope that everyone likes the changes and massive updates to the site. While I would love to take credit for it all, a lot of the work was done by my new Web-Sidekick, Citizen Shelly. It was a tough decision to let someone else work on my site with me, but I simply don't have the time to put the proper amount of effort and energy into the site that I once had. So, in an effort to keep ShaneHelms.com the best wrestler website on the net, which it is, I finally had to "reach for the tag." Shelly has been doing a fansite dedicated to me for years now, and after teasing the subject through a few email's I finally asked her if she would like to work on my site, she agreed, and has so far seemed pretty happy to be doing it, but we'll see how long that lasts once she finds how demanding a pain in the Hurri-ass I can be. :) But seriously, Shelly, awesome job, thank you so much. I'm sure that everyone is gonna love it! And just so everyone knows, all emails sent to shane@shanehelms.com will still be seen and read by me and me only. Nothing has changed in that regard. Next, I want to thank everyone for the massive amount of birthday wishes that I received. The gifts too, were very much appreciated, however I received so much that my Post Office (damn them) actually sent a few back. So if anyone reading this had something sent back to them, it wasn't me okay? I had nothing to do with that. :) But anyway, it was indeed a very special birthday for me as I once again locked horns with "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. He is indeed THE greatest of all-time! And for those of you that haven't picked his book up yet, do it now! It is really, really good. The "Champ" cuts loose on more than a few subjects and people but also tells some grueling stories of how he came up and survived in this business. It is a must read for any wrestling fan. Looks like Rosey is FINALLY done with his "Training." LOL The new outfit looks really good, and hopefully this will put a new coat of paint on the WWE's resident SuperHeroes. Now, what's the latest and greatest on Shane Helms. For starters, I was invited to the White House this past Tuesday. How did this happen you may ask? Well, I've given up a lot of my free time over the past year and a half to participate in the SmackDown Your Vote campaign encouraging young people to vote. Well apparently my hard work paid off and got someone's attention. So myself, Maven, and Chris Nowinski, both also very active in the program, participated in a special tour that was just for us. We saw President Bush briefly as he departed the White House, got a wave, which was cool, but I can't help but wonder what he thought about the guy with the green hair? :) Anyway, all in all, it was a great experience and just another reminder that if my goofy ass from Smithfield, NC can get invited to The White House, anyone reading this is just as capable of achieving great things as well! As for extracurricular activities, I saw Spider-Man 2 and loved it. I think it was better than the first which was great to begin with and Alfred Molina's portrayal of Doc Ock was better than I thought it could be. Go see it! Another really good movie that I saw recently was, DodgeBall. I was rolling watching this one. Ben Stiller was as over the top as you can get. It is really funny! And speaking of movies, there is a special Hurricane appearance in the movie "Cheaper By The Dozen" starring Steve Martin. This "special" appearance can be seen in the Miscellaneous Photos section of the site. Check em out, it's pretty neat. My random rant of this particular episode of The Hurricane Chronicles has to do with . . . LEMONS! LOL I'm serious, I have run into a big problem with lemons. Nothing that is gonna ruin my life mind you, but very aggravating nonetheless! See, it started with tea. I'm from the South, and drinking tea (sweet tea that is) is pretty much a way of life down here. So anyway, when I order tea in a restaurant, I always have to order it without lemon. Not because I don't like lemons, I just don't like them in my tea. But, and you can ask Matt Hardy, Lita, Christian, Lance Storm, and various others that have travelled with me, 99 times out of 100, my tea will come out with a huge lemon wedge right there on the glass. Now this happening every once in a while is no big deal, but I've been on the road full time, for 5 years now, so we are in the "thousands" of times it has happened. So I have to ask? Is there a lemon surplus going on that I didn't hear about? I mean, there is lemon in my tea, in my dish washing liquid, in my carpet cleaner, in my furniture polish, it goes on and on. Wtf? Lemons are taking over the Earth, and they must be stopped! Well, that's all for now, until next time, Stay cool. Shane |
