![]() The Life and Times of Shane Helms Entry #41 Saturday, Febuary 23rd, 2002. Finally, I got my own T-Shirt!!!!!! And Did I mention that without even being seen on WWF TV, my T-Shirt made it almost to the top of the WWF Shopzone Top 10 and went on back order immediately! Did I mention that the highest rating WWF Excess has ever had was the show that I was on? Last time I checked, anyway. Did I mention that I was told that the best attendance that the WWF NY Restaurant has had for a Thursday Smackdown in months was the one I recently hosted? And that the RAW that I recently hosted was "Standing Room Only?" Now, before this sounds like I'm tooting my own horn, let my just say that none of the above would have occurred if it wasn't for you! The Fans! No, make that, the Hurri-Fans! So don't congratulate me, thank yourselves! And let ME thank you too! :) With that being said, let's get down to biz! People are constantly asking me do I like being in the WWF better than when I was in WCW? The answer is of course "Yes!" Don't get me wrong, WCW treated me very well. And I was really starting to define myself in it's latter days. But let's look at the things I've done since I became a WWF'er! First off, I won the WWF European Championship. I lost it too, but just forget that part. :) I wrestled in England! I've been to Canada FOUR times already! And Canadians love The Hurricane! I'm going to Japan! I've wrestled in at least 30 different states! Confusion being foremost among them. Being that part of my love for wrestling is being able to perform in front of as many people and in as many different places as possible, I would say that the WWF is certainly giving me those opportunities. I also main-evented a WWF Show! An event that saw me have an altercation with WWF (and wrestling in general) legend Mick Foley! That alone has made my WWF tenture so far worthwhile. And most recently, in the Royal Rumble, I had a run-in with two of the biggest stars ever (and I mean e-e-e-ver) in this business, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H. And just in case you missed it, I had both of them at my mercy! What? Yes, by the throat! What? By the neck! What? By the guzzle! What? By the Adam's Apple! What? By the tonsils! What? By the esophagus! What? By the trachea! What? By that little thing in the back of your throat that I don't even know the name of! What? I was ready to chokeslam 'em! What? I was ready to win! What? The Royal Rumble! What? But instead I lost! What? Got tossed! What? Got shit-canned!! What? Ousted! What? That's what I said! What? Whassup wit dat????? Sorry about that, but hey Steve Austin is one of my personal favorites, so a little homage to Stone Cold on my page should be expected every now and then. What? I've also gotten way more mic time on WWF TV. Sure, not everyone digs the way I talk, or even understands it for that matter (although most women tend to like it), and for those that don't, "Hey, it's an accent! Look it up!" Sure there are some who prefer the serious tactics of Sugar Shane over the oft-comedic approach of The Hurricane, but remember, I'm still the same guy, and at any time the "Sensation of Innovation" could make his return! After all, did you miss the return of The Vertebreaker on Jakked a few weeks ago? You did? Oh well. :) But now the big news in wrestling these days is the return of the nWo! Hey Yo! Interesting days are ahead. And how cool was it to see The Rock face-to-face with The Hulk! Awesome. The Hurricane Action Figure will be out very soon. I'm very happy about that. Now I can play with myself! What? Wait, that didn't sound right. Oh well. Now on to other things. I've seen Lord of the Rings three times and loved it! I enjoyed it so much that I then bought and read "The Hobbit," and I also just finished "The Fellowship of the Ring." For those that don't know, "The Hobbit" is set before the movie. Both are really really good. Legolas the Elf was my favorite character. I also went to see BlackHawk Down, but I left out early. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood or something. Oh well. A few weeks ago in Las Vegas, myself, Chris Jericho, Budda Ray Dudley, and CHRISTIAN!!!!!! all went to see George Carlin perfom at the MGM Grand Casino Hotel. I was a fan of Carlin's even before the show and this performance was great too. He is indeed a very funny guy. We all really had a great time hanging out afterwards too, although I did wake up with some empty pockets the next day. Now I'm not gonna mention any names, like Jericho, but someone, Jericho, somehow, Jericho, convinced me to give them, Jericho, my money to gamble away! LOL Oh well. In 3Count News: Shannon is in the HWA, a developmental territory for the WWF, and he is doing really good! Evan, has flown the coup to Hollywood to get some acting work. Evan, as some of you may know, once worked on the ABC Soap Opera "All My Children." So good luck to him out in Cali. Speaking of Hollywood, is the Bernie Mac Show the funniest show on TV or what? I think so! The Comics to read right now are The Incredible Hulk [Marvel], Ultimate Spider-Man [Marvel], Powers [Image], 100 Bullets [DC/Vertigo] and the JSA [DC]. In the Hulk, a little boy is accidentally killed during one of the Hulk's rampages, and now Bruce Banner is having to deal with that. Very good stuff. Ultimate Spider-Man is retelling the early life of Spider-Man but using today's settings and modern day revisions of some of the classic characters. The best Spidey ever in my opinion. Powers has always been good in it's adult take on the world of superheros. 100 Bullets is probably the best written "non-superhero" book out there. And the JSA is currently housing one of my all-time favorite "overlooked and underused" characters, Black Adam! Check these out if you get a chance. And fans of independent wrestling should check out the Carolina Wrestling Federation and Southern Championship Wrestling. I attend these shows every chance I get. Some really good talent here! I hope you like the updates, let me know! Your Crime Fighting SuperHero, Shane Helms |
