What's up Addicts?

What a weekend? The Motor City Comic Con was all that I hoped it would be and more! Where to start? lol I hope this entry doesn't get too long.

The first person I met was Mike Oeming. Mike is the artist of "Powers" written by Brian Michael Bendis for Image Comics. Now Powers is currently one of my favorite titles but it wasn't until a few issues of the book had been released that the title caught my attention. Here's the reason why: When I first broke into the wrestling biz (oh so many years ago) I had planned to go by the name Christian Walker while using Sky as a nickname for the effect of Christian "Sky" Walker. I actually used the name Christian Skywalker in the play-by-mail game, the Imaginary Wrestling Alliance (IWA) a few years later. But anyway, last year some time, I'm in my local comic store, Capitol Comics in Raleigh, NC, when I hear someone talking about this new book Powers and how great it is. So I decided to take a look at the book and guess what the main character's name is? Homicide Detective Christian Walker! LOL For that reason alone I picked up the book and it did turn out to be great, so I have been reading it ever since. Now combine that little nugget with the fact that the first person I meet out of all the quests at the Con is the artist of this book; kinda kooky huh? But Mike is a super talented guy who worked hard to get where he is and deserves all the credit in the world for putting out such a great book. But what I'm thinking that book needs is a special guest appearance by a certain WCW World Cruiserweight Champion. LOL Know what I mean Mike? Mike? Hey Mike! It's me Shane, remember me? Damn it! :)

Next, I met Mark Rolston and Jenette Goldstein. Jenette has been in such films as Aliens, Lethal Weapon 2, and Terminator 2 among others. Very nice with this sexy little grin to boot! Mark too, has been in several films, the most notable being Rush Hour and The Shawshank Redemption. He was FBI Agent Warren Russ in Rush Hour and in Shawshank he was Bogs Diamond, and I'm telling you, he was a SOB in that role! Great actor, at least I hope he was acting! lol

Of course I got to meet Lou Ferrigno, The Incredible Hulk! Very nice guy. He had people lined up around the block to meet him! He gave me an autographed poster that is hanging on my wall as I type this. Thanks alot Lou, it was my pleasure!

I also met James Doohan (Mr. Scotty from Star Trek), Walter Koeing (Chekov from Star Trek), Marina Sirtis (Counsellor Troi, hot hot hot) and Kathy Garver from Family Affair.

I received a ton of gifts from so many people that I lost track of them all! LOL Ain't that crazy? I had to get a box special delivered to my house because I couldn't fit it all into my luggage!

Anyway, the convention was a 3 day deal, Friday thru Sunday. Well on Saturday, I was only there for a few hours because I was wrestling that night for the Extreme Wrestling Federation. The promoter of the EWF told me that he had someone picking me up from the Comic Con to drive me to where the EWF show was being held. I was cool with that. So the guy that picks me up is a wrestler named Peter B. Beautiful. He is what would have been produced had The Blue Meanie and Goldust ever spawned a child. So we go to put my luggage in the car, and this is when he decides to tell me that there are two other guys in the car that will be riding with us. I'm like, okay, no big deal. That's when I'm introduced to "The Urban Legend" J-Real and El Vato. El Vato is driving, J-Real is in the back with me, while PBB is navigating. Somewhere along the line I think it would have been appropriate for PBB to alert at least one of us to his Attention Deficit Disorder, as his navigating skills along with El Vato's "Driving Miss Daisy" style of automobile operation resulted in making a 190-mile trip last over 4 and a half hours! Not to mention the car had NO air condition and El Vato had to open the trunk with a screwdriver! LOL And I have to mention that J-Real fell asleep and had some kind of nightmare and woke up with a spastic jerk that was funny as hell. But, even with all of that against us, we made it to the show, and actually had alot of laughs on the way. At the show, I forgot my entrance music but Vato hooked my up some cool tunes and I had a real good match with a young kid named Phoenix. The details of which were highlighted on my message board by Shelly Lenay. The ride back to my hotel was much shorter as J-Real took the wheel (and wasn't afraid of the gas), Vato was navigating (excellent job), and I was in the back with PBB. The highlight of the return trip had to be when we stopped at a Gas Station/Subway gimmick where a woman who bore an astounding resemblance to the short old lady in Poltergeist ("This house is clear!") went out of her way to mention how impressed she was with the PBB's physique. Pete will probably deny it, but I bet that he'll be stopping back in there pretty soon and it won't be for no sandwich!

Well, then I did the convention again the following day before flying back home to NC that night. All in all it was a great weekend, no doubt! And I won't to thank everyone I met and hung with, including bodyguard Frank Verdi, who was very willing to beat anyone I asked him to, and Gary Bishop who was the man who set me up with the Comic Con to begin with. Thanks again!

Song of the week has to be "One Step Closer" by Linkin Park. Great song! Speaking of music, Matt, I know you read this, so please no more Pearl Jam, I can't take it anymore! :)

Now, many of you know that Chris Kanyon and myself are great friends. Well, while sifting through ChrisKanyon.com last night I came across this one particular article that I thought was extremely good. Please take the time to read it, once you are through with this little novelette of course. Here is the link, "Is Wrestling Real?" :)

Well that's it for now!

Your WCW Cruiserweight Champion :),
