Discharge/Re-Enlistment Papers for Michael William Shanahan

I certify that the within named M. W. Shanahan a Private of Captain O. F. West Company (I) of the Ninth Regiment of Mississippi Volunteers; born in Limerick in the state of Ireland aged 20 years five feet 6 inches high fair complexion Blue eyes, dark hair and by occupation a clerk was enlisted by Capt. J. R. Chalmers at Senatobia on the 27th day of March 1861 to serve one year and is now entitled to a discharge by reason of his reinlisting to serve during the war.

The said M. W. Shanahan was last paid by Captain Johnson to include the 31st day of October 1861 and has pay due from that date to the present date. There is due him one month and fifteen days wages, also ten 40/100 Dollars clothing money not drawn.

He is indebted to the confederate states __________ Dollars on account of accouterments lost.

Given in duplicate at Camp Bragg this the 15th day of Dec, 1861.
