Bobby Dan Billings
A brief biography

Bobby Dan Billings was born on April 23, 1934, the third son and third (or fourth?) child of Clyde Nolen Billings, Sr.1 and Ethelene Freeze.2 I question whether he was the third or fourth child, for Bobby Dan was one half of a set of twins and I'm uncertain if he, or his twin sister, Marian Ann Billings was born first.

Bobby Dan was born in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, the first generation of Billings' to be born in the city instead of on a farm. Shelby County isn't too far from Atoka, Tipton County, Tennessee where his own father, was born and raised on the family farm.

Bobby Dan's father, Clyde Nolen was the third generation of Billings' to be born on the family farm in Tipton County; Bobby Dan's grandfather Thurman Billings,3 was also born there and was a farmer just as his Great Grandfather, William David Billings, 4 had been before him. Before that his Great Great Grandfather, George W. Billings, 5 was born in North Carolina, and migrated to Tennessee circa 1848-51. Bobby Dan's Great Great Great Grandfather, Frederick Billings, 6 was born in 1765 in North Carolina and as he is the son of a gentleman by the name of Johannes Siegfried Billings, 7 who is our German Immigant ancestor.

As mentioned before, Bobby Dan was the third son of Clyde Nolen Billings, Sr. The first son in the family and Dan's oldest brother was Clyde Nolen, Jr.8 The next son and Dan's next oldest brother was William David Billings, (07 Apr 1932 - 19 Sep 1933). William David died as a young child aged 17 months two years before Dan was born. Bobby Dan and his twin sister Marian Ann, are the next two children to make their appearance in the family and then many years later Bobby Dan's last two sisters, Sara Frances9 and Susan Carol10 were born.
