"One of the most superb
examples of Shaker domestic architecture, this 40 room
dwelling was home to the largest Shaker family at Pleasant
Hill. Brethren and Sisters entered the building and common
rooms separately through the twin doorways. Double
staircases and wide hallways facilitated the separation of
the sexes."
