Would you like to join an international Tropical Hibiscus Mail List?

Hibiscus enthusiasts from every continent (except Antarctica!) participate in the informal, international Tropical Hibiscus Internet Mail List (or Discussion Group). Correspondents represent all levels of expertise — from novices to the highly experienced to the professional.

Enjoy the information gained from reading the messages that interest you, ask questions, or even answer them! You will find that the Hibiscus List generally maintains a very friendly, personable atmosphere. You can to introduce yourself and join in the exciting dialogue among the members of this unique virtual hibiscus chapter (or branch or society or community). However, you are never required to do so!

If you would like to join, type the words — subscribe hibiscus — in the subject area of your e-mail message. You should then leave the message space completely blank and send your e-mail to the following internet address req.hibiscus@packet.net. Or just click on this link to start your e-mail message: Subscribe Hibiscus Mail List.

All messages, which hibiscus enthusiasts around the world post to the Hibiscus Mail List, will then begin appearing in your IN-BOX. (To reverse the process of joining, follow the same procedure e-mailing req.hibiscus@packet.net, but use the words unsubscribe hibiscus, instead.) For more information or to request the Digest version, contact List Master: Tom Miller.

NOTE: (It should be mentioned that an internet mail list is an automatic correspondence among (or to) an entire list of subscriber e-mail addresses. In contrast, the more familiar internet newsgroup allows individuals to post and read messages to (or from) a universally available web site. Newsgroup participants change continuously, since they do not join, but merely read and post messages. Newsgroups are usually much larger and less personable than a mail list.

Before subscribing, please READ the following American Hibiscus Society policy statement regarding theTropical Hibiscus Internet Mail List (or Discussion Group). This completely independent, Lists & Lists…™, web site supports this declaration. Most of the other international hibiscus societies have adopted some form of this announcement & disclaimer:

"The American Hibiscus Society recognizes the hibiscus mail list, or discussion group, as a valuable tool in promoting our objectives.  It is not, however, an official publication of the American Hibiscus Society (A.H.S.), and the Board of Directors does not wish to infringe on the activities of the discussion group. We ask only that the list retain its present position as a forum for discussion of primarily hibiscus-related topics, and that it continue in the current vein of good taste, ethical standards, and common sense operation. The Society neither condones, nor objects to information disseminated or opinions expressed, and prefers the list continue its outstanding operation under the current arrangement."
...Chairperson, American Hibiscus Society — June, 1998.)
