Tips From: Dee Barber

There are instructions in the December 1998 Sew News.  They wanted you to cut two 18 inch circles per napkin, put them wrong sides together, fold and roll hem the raw edges.
But I found it too bulky and a waste of expensive fabric.
The article also used a green thread for the rolled hem and I thought a gold would look
more like a Christmas tree trim. The original instructions were very confusing!

As you can see that using one circle works beautifully so you can make twice as many!

I found that one circle per napkin was enough and I made mine 17 inches and I found that I could get four napkins per yard.
The folding is the difficult part as you really need to see the picture (above) of the napkin already folded to see how to do it.  I have a  picture of the finished napkin folded.
These are so easy to do and look great on a Christmas table.

Supply's
1 yard of  100% cotton, pre washed fabric equals 4 napkins.

Instructions:
Cut 1 - 17 inch circle for each napkin, folded it in half and serged the raw edges.
I used gold Wooly Nylon in my upper and lower looper for the rolled hem.
I used Fray Check on the tails and then snipped the tails.

The folding tip!
The folding is the hard part for everyone.  I put the half circle so the fold is on my left and then I start folding from the bottom up looking at the picture makes it easier and it worked!
