Great Thinkers in the History of Unitarian Universalism

Ever wonder about the history of the UU Church? Did the new member orientation or New UU class spark some curiosity in you? Then we have the class for you. Each week we will focus our discussion around one or two short readings by key thinkers such as Michael Servetus, Faustus Socinus, Hosea Ballou, William Ellery Channing, Ralph Waldo Emerson, or the Humanist Manifesto. Beginning Early Christianity and the Protestant Reformation and ending with today's grappling with diversity, we will place such thinkers and their thoughts into their historical frameworks, and try to trace the common threads that run through their words.

Facilitator: Kay Read, Associate Professor of World Religions at DePaul University
Dates: Sundays: April 18th-May 30th 2004. (i.e. skipping May 14th and 16th)
Times: All Sessions 12:00-1:30
