The Second Cut

Information About The Second Cut and Timothy H. Buchman

Tim worked for many years at Avery Fisher Hall, the concert hall at Lincoln Center for The Performing Arts in New York City. The "Second Cut" is a dingy storage area in the basement of the building. All sorts of occasionally useful items were kept there. No one could bear to throw any of it away. I hope you will find something useful here.

Timothy H. Buchman retired in 2007 as the Assistant Electrician and light board operator at NY City Center Theater in New York City. He has an M.F.A. (1974) from Smith College and an A.B. (1972) from Bowdoin College. He is a member of I.A.T.S.E. locals One, 52, 632, and 829 (L.D.). While he had many jobs over the years, his longer-term positions included:

He hasn't had a staff computer programming position for some time, but he worked at the Teachers College (Columbia University) Computer Center, and several divisions of the City University of New York, most notably the Office of Open Admissions Research. The most important PL\I program he wrote there was called "Emilio", after the chef at the Graduate Center cafeteria. His first programming classes used an IBM 1620. Most of the programs on this site were written using Borland C++ Builder 3 (or 6) Pro.
