My Dad has sent over some of his
delicious homemade spaghetti sauce for
our dinner tonight. It is such a joy to the
tastebuds. He lets it slow cook for hours
and always adds the perfect amount of
garlic to heighten the flavor. You feel
better just for eating it. It is for me the
best tasting sauce in the whole world.
It is the same sauce that my Grandma
and Mom made every Sunday when I
was growing up. It will always be for
me a recipe of pure delight.
We all have recipes in our lives.
We have recipes for great food.
We have recipes for loving relationships.
We even have recipes for success.
The one recipe I think that we are all
searching for, however, is the recipe for
happiness. We all want to be happy and
we all want some secret recipe that will
bring that happiness into our lives.
The recipe for happiness, though, isn't
the same for everyone. Each one of us
is a unique individual. Things that would
add to the happiness of one of us would
only add to the misery of another.
The truth is that each of us has to create
our own recipe for happiness. Each one
of us has to make our own dinner of
joy and love.
Just remember that although each person
has a different recipe for happiness the
ingredients always remain the same.
You have to take a cup of what you think,
stir in a few ounces of what you feel, and
sprinkle generously with what you do.
If what you think is positive, what you
feel is joyous, and what you do is loving
then you will always create a glorious
dinner of delight and happiness for
yourself and others. God has given each
of us the ability to be the great chefs of
our own lives. It is up to us, however,
to create the recipes, do the cooking,
and share the meal.
